"The Walking Dead Experience" at Salt Lake Comic Con 2016

The Zombie Apocalypse Is Coming to Salt Lake City! Salt Lake Comic Con Announces “The Walking Dead Experience” for FanX 2016

FanX® attendees can experience the terror of “The Walking Dead” firsthand; FanX is March 24-26, 2016, at the Salt Palace Convention Center

SALT LAKE CITY--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Salt Lake Comic Con organizers announced today that “The Walking Dead Experience” is coming to FanX® 2016. Presented by The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman and produced and created by Michael Counts and Walker Stalker, fans will be able to experience the terror of a zombie outbreak, as detailed in Chapter One of The Walking Dead comic book, March 24-26, 2016, at the Salt Palace Convention Center.

“We have some of the top guests from The Walking Dead, and The Walking Dead Experience is a substantial addition to complement our show. Our success in this market has allowed us to continue to expand the caliber of partnerships to serve our fans.”

The Walking Dead Experience drops attendees into the chaotic and terrifying world of The Walking Dead. Small groups of participants will adventure through a small town at the start of the outbreak, experiencing the night zombies began their rampage and the moment social order began to unravel.

“This is the best set of guests and attractions we’ve had yet for fans of The Walking Dead and other zombie shows,” said Dan Farr, Salt Lake Comic Con Founder and Producer. “We’ve booked Norman Reedus, Danai Gurira, Chandler Riggs, and Michael Traynor from AMC’s The Walking Dead,” five principal cast members from Syfy’s Z Nation and three principal cast members from the upcoming zombie film on Syfy, Dead7. We couldn’t be more thrilled to add this real-time sensory experience to FanX 2016.”

The Walking Dead Experience is an immersive theatrical attraction featuring state of the art special effects, professional performers, and elaborate sets,” said Walker Stalker President James Frazier. “We’re excited to have Salt Lake Comic Con as our first comic con partner for the Experience in 2016.”

Attendees can choose to play as “survivors” or “walkers,” with run times ranging from 30 to 90 minutes, and include options like professionally applied zombie makeup. It debuted at Walker Stalker Con in Atlanta and has made subsequent stops on its national tour in Nashville, Orlando, Dallas, Chicago, and more.

“Salt Lake Comic Con has a substantial zombie theme, along with Doctor Who, Arrow, Star Trek, X-Files, Buzz Aldrin and more at FanX 2016,” said Bryan Brandenburg, Salt Lake Comic Con Co-Founder and Chief Marketing Officer. “We have some of the top guests from The Walking Dead, and The Walking Dead Experience is a substantial addition to complement our show. Our success in this market has allowed us to continue to expand the caliber of partnerships to serve our fans.”
