Warner Bros. Animation's "Storks" Features New Music and Songs

Storks Original Motion Picture Soundtrack Features the Music of Mychael Danna & Jeff Danna, Includes “Holdin’ Out” - New Song by The Lumineers

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--WaterTower Music today announced the release of the Storks: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack, which features the music of prolific composers Mychael Danna (Oscar Winner – “Life of Pi,” “Moneyball,” “Little Miss Sunshine”), and Jeff Danna (“Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck,” “Fracture,” “The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus”), and includes “Holdin’ Out” – a brand new song by The Lumineers. The soundtrack will be released September 16, 2016, one week in advance of the film, which will be released in 2D and 3D in select theatres on September 23, 2016.

“Our approach to the score for Storks was very much inspired by the legacy of the storied Warner Bros. animated tradition”

“Our approach to the score for Storks was very much inspired by the legacy of the storied Warner Bros. animated tradition,” explained composers Mychael Danna and Jeff Danna. “Recorded in the same WB studio that those pioneering animation composers worked in, the music for Storks moves through such divergent musical modes as Latin, Big Band, choral, orchestral, electronic and ensembles of unusual and quirky instruments. Tying these styles together are our melodic and emotional themes, maintaining a cohesive sound despite the careening musical style changes. Witty and bombastic, silly and yet with a strong emotional payoff, we are very proud of the work we did for Storks.”

Mychael Danna and Jeff Danna possess a healthy body of critically acclaimed works, both individually and collaboratively. They write the original music for the FX series “Tyrant,” which earned them both Emmy nominations. They were previously Emmy-nominated for “Camelot” in 2011. Recently, they worked on the score for “The Good Dinosaur” and received an Annie nomination for Outstanding Achievement, Music in an Animated Feature Production. Their collaborative Orchestral Celtic albums have enjoyed worldwide success and placed in the Top Ten on the Billboard chart in the United States.

From Warner Bros. Pictures and Warner Animation Group, the animated adventure “Storks” stars Andy Samberg (“Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs,” “Hotel Transylvania”), Katie Crown (“Clarence”), Kelsey Grammer (“Toy Story 2,” “The Simpsons”), Jennifer Aniston (“We’re the Millers,” “Horrible Bosses”), Ty Burrell (“Finding Dory,” “Modern Family”), Keegan-Michael Key (“The Angry Birds Movie,” “Keanu,” “Key & Peele”), Jordan Peele (“Keanu,” “Key & Peele”) and Danny Trejo (“The Book of Life,” “Muppets Most Wanted”).

The film was directed by Nicholas Stoller (“Neighbors,” “Forgetting Sarah Marshall”; writer, "The Muppets”) and Oscar nominee Doug Sweetland (the animated short “Presto”; supervising animator, “Cars”), from a screenplay written by Stoller.

“Storks” was produced by Brad Lewis (Academy Award-winning “Ratatouille,” “Antz”; co-director, “Cars 2”) and Nicholas Stoller. The executive producers are Glenn Ficarra, Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, John Requa and Jared Stern. The film is edited by John Venzon (“Shark Tale,” “Chicken Run”). Music is composed by Mychael Danna (“The Good Dinosaur,” Oscar winner, “Life of Pi”) and Jeff Danna (“The Good Dinosaur”). Animation is by Sony Pictures Imageworks.

Review: "We're the Millers" the Funniest Movie of 2013

TRASH IN MY EYE No. 1 (of 2014) by Leroy Douresseaux

We’re the Millers (2013)
Running time:  110 minutes (1 hour, 50 minutes)
MPAA – R for crude sexual content, pervasive language, drug material and brief graphic nudity
DIRECTOR:  Rawson Marshall Thurber
WRITERS:  Bob Fisher & Steve Faber and Sean Anders & John Morris; from a story by Bob Fisher and Steve Faber
PRODUCERS:  Chris Bender, Vincent Newman, Tucker Tooley, and Happy Walters
CINEMATOGRAPHER:  Barry Peterson
EDITOR:  Michael L. Sale
COMPOSERS:  Ludwig Göransson and Theodore Shapiro

COMEDY/CRIME

Starring:  Jennifer Aniston, Jason Sudeikis, Emma Roberts, Will Poulter, Ed Helms, Nick Offerman, Kathryn Hahn, Molly Quinn, Tomer Sisley, and Matthew Willig

We’re the Millers is a 2013 crime comedy from director Rawson Marshall Thurber (DodgeBall: A True Underdog Story).  We’re the Millers focuses on a veteran pot dealer and the fake family he creates as part of a plan to transport a shipment of marijuana into the United States from Mexico.  In a year when not too many comedies really thrilled me, I think We’re the Millers is not only the year’s best comedy, but it is also one of my all-time favorites, and I want to see it again.

We’re the Millers introduces low level pot dealer, David Clark (Jason Sudeikis).  An unfortunate occurrence leaves him $43,000 in debt to his supplier, drug lord Brad Gurdlinger (Ed Helms).  Brad makes David a deal:  go to Mexico and big up a small stash of weed and bring it back to him.  Realizing that one man attempting to get through customs at the Mexican border would be a bit suspicious, David comes up with the idea of creating a fake family.

David first recruits his neighbor, 18-year-old Kenny Rossmore (Will Poulter), to be his son.  Kenny recommends Casey Matthis (Emma Roberts), a 15-year-old runaway and thief, to pose as a daughter.  David’s toughest recruitment is another neighbor, Rose O’Reilly (Jennifer Aniston), a stripper, to be his wife.  Still, David manages to create a fake family, the Millers.  At first, the mission to Mexico goes well, but things turn complicated when the family runs afoul of another drug dealer and also encounters an overly-friendly family, the Fitzgeralds.

We’re the Millers’ director Rawson Marshall Thurber does his best work in allowing his cast to make gold of a screenplay filled with silliness, vulgarity, and silly vulgarity.  Jennifer Aniston and Jason Sudeikis are veteran comic actors, and they easily take this material to heights, beyond what anyone should have reasonably expected of it.  Emma Roberts and Will Poulter (who is unfamiliar to me) steal many scenes, all the better for the audience.  Nick Offerman and Kathryn Hahn are not only fun, but they also deliver some excellent character acting, which helps them do quite a bit of scene stealing.

We’re the Millers apparently got mixed reviews from critics, but there are no mixed feelings here.  I love it!  In the future, when We’re the Millers is a staple of cable television, I’ll think of each showing as “Miller time!”  Forgive me for going there.

New Line Cinema’s “Horrible Bosses 2” Now in Production

BURBANK, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Filming has begun in Los Angeles on New Line Cinema’s “Horrible Bosses 2,” directed by Sean Anders (“Sex Drive”). The follow-up to the 2011 hit comedy “Horrible Bosses” reunites stars Jason Bateman, Charlie Day and Jason Sudeikis as everyone’s favorite working stiffs Nick, Dale and Kurt. Fed up with answering to higher-ups, Nick, Dale and Kurt decide to become their own bosses by launching their own business in “Horrible Bosses 2.” But a slick investor soon pulls the rug out from under them. Outplayed and desperate, and with no legal recourse, the three would-be entrepreneurs hatch a misguided plan to kidnap the investor’s adult son and ransom him to regain control of their company.

Sean Anders directs from a screenplay by Anders & John Morris (“We’re the Millers”), and by John Francis Daley & Jonathan Goldstein (“Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2”), who also served as writers on the first film. “Horrible Bosses 2” is being produced by Brett Ratner, Jay Stern, John Morris, John Rickard and Chris Bender, with Diana Pokorny and John Cheng serving as executive producers.

The behind-the-scenes creative team includes director of photography Julio Macat (“Pitch Perfect”), production designer Clayton Hartley (“We’re the Millers”), editor Eric Kissack (“The Dictator”) and costume designer Carol Ramsey (“Identity Thief”).

BURBANK, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Continuing its successful run at the box office, New Line Cinema’s smash hit comedy “We’re the Millers” has surpassed $200 million at the worldwide box office. The announcement was made by Dan Fellman, President, Domestic Distribution, and Veronika Kwan Vandenberg, President, International Distribution, Warner Bros. Pictures. The film has grossed an estimated $206 million globally, and still climbing.

“We’re the Millers” has taken in an estimated $132.6 million domestically and is still going strong. Internationally, the film has grossed $73.4 million, opening at #1 in key European markets such as Germany and breaking records in Russia, where it has become the highest grossing R-rated comedy of all time. Major markets set to release in the coming weeks include Spain, France and Brazil.

Fellman stated, “‘We’re the Millers’ has demonstrated terrific playability from coast to coast, and the phenomenal word of mouth has kept the weekly drops notably low and the attendance consistently high. We congratulate our partners at New Line, as well as director Rawson Marshall Thurber and the terrific cast, led by the tremendously talented Jason Sudeikis and Jennifer Aniston.”

Kwan Vandenberg noted, “The international rollout has been fantastic, with number one openings and powerful holds. International audiences have responded in a big way to the film’s outrageous humor, and the chemistry of Jennifer and Jason and the entire cast. We join New Line in congratulating Rawson and his cast and crew on crossing this exciting benchmark.”

From New Line Cinema comes the action comedy “We’re the Millers,” starring Jennifer Aniston and Jason Sudeikis under the direction of Rawson Marshall Thurber.

David Clark (Sudeikis) is a small-time pot dealer whose clientele includes chefs and soccer moms, but no kids—after all, he has his scruples. So what could go wrong? Plenty. Preferring to keep a low profile for obvious reasons, he learns the hard way that no good deed goes unpunished when he tries to help out some local teens and winds up getting jumped by a trio of gutter punks. Stealing his stash and his cash, they leave him in major debt to his supplier, Brad (Ed Helms).

In order to wipe the slate clean—and maintain a clean bill of health—David must now become a big-time drug smuggler by bringing Brad’s latest shipment in from Mexico. Twisting the arms of his neighbors, cynical stripper Rose (Aniston) and wannabe customer Kenny (Will Poulter), as well as streetwise teen Casey (Emma Roberts), he devises a foolproof plan. One fake wife, two pretend kids and a huge, shiny RV later, the “Millers” are headed south of the border for a Fourth of July weekend that is sure to end with a bang.

The film also stars Emma Roberts, Nick Offerman, Kathryn Hahn, Will Poulter and Ed Helms.

Thurber directed “We’re the Millers” from a screenplay by Bob Fisher & Steve Faber and Sean Anders & John Morris, story by Fisher & Faber. Vincent Newman, Tucker Tooley, Happy Walters and Chris Bender produced, with David Heyman, J.C. Spink, Marcus Viscidi, Toby Emmerich, Richard Brener and David Neustadter serving as executive producers.

Thurber’s behind-the-scenes creative team included director of photography Barry Peterson; production designer Clayton Hartley; editor Mike Sale; and costume designer Shay Cunliffe. The music is by Theodore Shapiro and Ludwig Goransson.

New Line Cinema presents a Newman/Tooley Films, Slap Happy Productions/Heyday Films and Benderspink production, “We’re the Millers.” The film is distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.

“We’re the Millers” is rated R for “crude sexual content, pervasive language, drug material and brief graphic nudity.”
