Skydance Media and Paramount Pictures Extend Their Deal

Skydance Media Extends Worldwide Production & Distribution Agreement for Feature Films with Paramount Pictures for Four Additional Years

Agreement Now Includes Live Action & Animated Feature Films

SANTA MONICA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Skydance, a diversified media company that creates elevated, event-level entertainment for global audiences, has extended its worldwide feature film production and distribution agreement with Paramount Pictures for an additional four years. Skydance and Paramount will together produce highly anticipated installments of the Mission: Impossible, Top Gun, and World War Z franchises as well as a re-launch of the Terminator franchise and original features Bermuda Triangle and Gemini Man, among other films that have not yet been announced.

    Skydance has extended its worldwide feature film production and distribution agreement with Paramount Pictures.

The new agreement also includes animated features, following Skydance’s recent formation of its animated division in partnership with Spain’s Ilion Animation Studios. Skydance’s first two animated films are Luck, a comedy from director Alessandro Carloni and writers Jonathan Aibel & Glenn Berger and Split, a fantasy project being directed by Vicky Jenson and written by Linda Woolverton.

To date, Skydance’s 14 films have grossed over $4.5 billion in worldwide box office. Going forward, Skydance will produce three to four live action feature films per year. Its future slate includes Geostorm on October 20th with Warner Bros. and Annihilation and Mission: Impossible 6 with Paramount.

Under the terms of the agreement, Paramount will have the opportunity to co-finance and distribute on a worldwide basis the movies that Skydance produces during the four-year period, and Skydance will retain the option to co-produce and co-finance certain of Paramount’s feature films.
