From NYT:  The novelist, E.L. Doctorow, died today (Tuesday, July 21, 2015) at the age of 84.  I read three of his books:  The Book of Daniel, Ragtime, and Billy Bathgate, and they were highly influential for me.  R.I.P. Mr. Doctorow.

From THR:  The actor Alex Rocco has died at the age of 79 (Saturday, July 18, 2015 of cancer).  He was best known for playing the Jewish mobster, Moe Greene, in The Godfather.  In 1990, he won an Emmy as best supporting actor in a comedy for the short-lived "The Famous Teddy Z" (starring Jon Cryer).
