"Just Add Magic" Season Two Arrives Early in 2017

Season Two of Amazon Original Kids Series Just Add Magic Debuts on January 13, 2017 on Prime Video

Based on Cindy Callaghan’s book of the same name, Just Add Magic stars Olivia Sanabia, Abby Donnelly, Aubrey Miller and Judah Bellamy, and is executive produced by Andrew Orenstein and Joe Nussbaum

SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--(NASDAQ: AMZN)—Amazon today announced season two of its original live-action kids series aimed at families and children aged 6 through 11, Just Add Magic, is scheduled to premiere on Friday, January 13, 2016, on Prime Video in the US and UK. Based on Cindy Callaghan’s book of the same name, Just Add Magic is a single-camera live-action series executive produced by Andrew Orenstein (Malcolm in the Middle) and Joe Nussbaum (George Lucas in Love, Awkward) with Nussbaum also directing several episodes.

Starring Olivia Sanabia (Extant), Abby Donnelly (Suburgatory), Aubrey Miller (Austin & Ally), and Judah Bellamy (Home), season two continues with Kelly (Sanabia) and her two best friends Darbie (Donnelly) and Hannah (Miller) as they work together to unravel the mystery surrounding the reappearance of an old enemy threatening to steal the girls’ magical cookbook. The first season of Just Add Magic, the most streamed kids 6-11 Amazon Original Series to date, is now available to stream exclusively for Prime members via the Amazon Prime Video app for TVs, connected devices including Fire TV, mobile devices and online—Prime members can also download the series to mobile devices for offline viewing at no additional cost to their membership.

“The fun of cooking/baking along with the magic and the life lessons, makes for a great series!”

In season two, the girls’ Last-Ditch Layer Cake breaks every spell in town which miraculously brings Grandma Quinn (Dee Wallace, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial) back to her normal self, however it also brings back an old enemy…Chuck Hankins. Chuck disappeared when he was a teenager, but when he returns 50 years later, he hasn’t aged a day. When Chuck begins to meddle with the girls’ lives, they must put aside their summer of fun in order to save the magic from falling into the wrong hands. As the girls begin to investigate, they learn that Chuck isn’t just an ordinary troublemaker. In fact, he's capable of much more than they could ever imagine. Chuck is creating his own magic cookbook and may be seeking revenge on the people who spelled him years ago. His master plan will eventually put one of the trio in grave danger unless Kelly, Hannah and Darbie can find a way to defeat Chuck once and for all.

“Kids and families have embraced Kelly, Darbie and Hannah and we’re excited to debut another season next month,” said Tara Sorensen, Head of Kids Programming at Amazon Studios. “There’s more suspense and magic in the new season as the girls’ mastery of magic will be called upon to protect their bond. The first season led our customers to extend beyond the show with family cooking time and hope the new season will continue that tradition.”

Just Add Magic also stars Catia Ojeda (Grey’s Anatomy) as Mrs. Quinn, Andrew Burlinson (Parks and Recreation) as Mr. Quinn, Amy Hill (50 First Dates) as Mama P, and Ellen Karsten (Camp Takota) as Ms. Silvers. Luisa Leschin (Austin & Ally) serves as co-executive producer, Matt Goldman (Wizards of Waverly Place) serves as consulting producer and Pixie Wespiser (Good Luck Charlie) serves as producer.

Customers can watch the first season and recently released Just Add Magic Halloween special, rated 4.8 stars, today, before the second season debuts on January 13. Below are what customers have said about the first season:

  •     “I love that they show smart, compassionate girls and that the friendship among the girls is so strong.”
  •     “The morals and life lessons are good as this show is about three stand-up girls with good hearts.”
  •     “The Halloween episode is just the recipe for holiday fun and thrills I was looking for and left me wanting more.”
  •     “Full of positive messages about friendship and loyalty.”
  •     “The fun of cooking/baking along with the magic and the life lessons, makes for a great series!”
  •     “Just add Magic provides excitement, magic and a 'moral teaching lesson' for each episode.”

The second season of Just Add Magic will be available for Prime members to stream and enjoy using the Amazon Prime Video app for TVs, connected devices including Amazon Fire TV, and mobile devices, or online at Amazon.com/originals, at no additional cost to their membership. Image Comics Reveals Skottie Young "Curse Words" Variant Cover

CURSE WORDS’ SKOTTIE YOUNG VARIANT REVEALED

Fans of I HATE FAIRYLAND will love this cover artwork

Image Comics is pleased to reveal a special, cheeky variant cover for CURSE WORDS #1 by Charles Soule and Ryan Browne featuring artwork by I HATE FAIRYLAND’s Skottie Young (I HATE FAIRYLAND).

Young’s characteristic wit is on display in this cover featuring CURSE WORDS’ main character, Wizord… Erm, expressing his contempt for the stereotypical “wizard” people are familiar with... as Margaret watches on disapprovingly.

In CURSE WORDS #1, a wizard has appeared in New York City, and he's casting wonderful spells, getting famous, getting rich—it's great! But it's not. This wizard has everyone fooled. He is actually an evil wizard, and evil things are on the way. CURSE WORDS is a gonzo modern fantasy, full of darkness, light… and magic.

CURSE WORDS #1 Cover B by Young (Diamond Code NOV160538) will hit comic book stores on Wednesday, January 18th, 2017. The final order cutoff deadline for comic book retailers is Monday, December 19th, 2016.

"Rurouni Kenshin" Manga Returns in Omnibus Editions

VIZ MEDIA ANNOUNCES NEW 3-IN-1 OMNIBUS EDITIONS OF THE LEGENDARY SAMURAI ADVENTURE SAGA RUROUNI KENSHIN

Triple The Action Of The Beloved Manga Series About A Wandering Swordsman That Vows To Protect Those In Need

San Francisco, CA – VIZ Media, LLC (VIZ Media), a premier company in the fields of publishing, animation distribution, and global entertainment licensing, notably expands its catalog of omnibus manga releases with the announcement of RUROUNI KENSHIN 3-in-1, Vol. 1 on January 3rd, 2017.

Creator Nobuhiro Watsuki’s acclaimed saga of a drifting swordsman in Meiji Era Japan is rated ‘T+’ for Older Teen and the new 3-in-1 editions will carry a print MSRP of $14.99 U.S. / $19.99 CAN each. New omnibus volumes will be published on a quarterly basis.

In RUROUNI KENSHIN, Himura Battosai was once an assassin of ferocious power during the violent upheaval of the Bakumatsu era. But as the Meiji Restoration heals the wounds of civil war, Battosai takes up a new name and a new calling. As Himura Kenshin, he now fights only to protect the honor of those in need.

RUROUNI KENSHIN made its first appearance in Japan in 1992 as an original short story in Weekly Shonen Jump Special and went on to garner fans around the world. Later rewritten and published as a regular, continuing manga series in 1994, RUROUNI KENSHIN ended serialization in 1999 but it continued in popularity, as evidenced by the 2000 publication of Yahiko no Sakabato (Yahiko’s Reversed-Edge Sword) and the 2015 publication of RUROUNI KENSHIN: RESTORATION in WEEKLY SHONEN JUMP. The series also has inspired novels, anime and feature films. Creator Watsuki is also the author of the popular series, BUSO RENKIN, which is published by VIZ Media.

A Reminder List of works submitted in the Original Score category will be made available with a nominations ballot to all members of the Music Branch, who shall vote in the order of their preference for not more than five achievements.  The five achievements receiving the highest number of votes will become the nominations for final voting for the award.

To be eligible, the original score must be a substantial body of music that serves as original dramatic underscoring, and must be written specifically for the motion picture by the submitting composer.  Scores diluted by the use of preexisting music, diminished in impact by the predominant use of songs or any music not composed specifically for the film by the submitting composer, or assembled from the music of more than one composer shall not be eligible.

Nominations for the 89th Oscars® will be announced on Tuesday, January 24, 2017.

The 89th Oscars will be held on Sunday, February 26, 2017, at the Dolby Theatre® at Hollywood & Highland Center® in Hollywood, and will be televised live on the ABC Television Network at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT.  The Oscars also will be televised live in more than 225 countries and territories worldwide.
