MIAMI--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Latin Recording Academy® has announced the nominees for the 22nd Annual Latin GRAMMY Awards®, the preeminent international honor and the only peer-selected award celebrating excellence in Latin music. The Latin GRAMMYs® are voted on by The Latin Academy's international membership body of music creators who represent all genres and creative disciplines, including recording artists, songwriters, producers, mixers and engineers.

“Our Academy strives to support the Latin music community through inclusive awards that spotlight the most current representation of excellence in the field”

This year's Song Of The Year category comprises a diverse group of songwriters that reflect the diversity of Latin music and its worldwide power, which transcends language and country of origin. Latin music has gained global popularity. Not only is the Latin community one of the largest and fastest-growing demographic groups in the U.S., but its music is more popular than ever.

In addition, this year's Best New Artist category, which includes Giulia Be, María Becerra, Bizarrap, Boza, Zoe Gotusso, Humbe, Rita Indiana, Lasso, Paloma Mami, Marco Mares and Juliana Velásquez, features an incredible slate of nominees. The Latin Recording Academy takes pride in the diversity within this category, as it has been an ongoing commitment of the organization to ensure that all creators see a future for their music in the industry.

“Our Academy strives to support the Latin music community through inclusive awards that spotlight the most current representation of excellence in the field," said Manuel Abud, CEO of The Latin Recording Academy. "Today, we are proud to unveil the nominees for the 22nd Annual Latin GRAMMY Awards — a gifted and diverse group of artists whose global music has broken down cultural barriers around the world."

The 22nd Annual Latin GRAMMY Awards nominees were selected from more than 20,000 entries across 53 categories and reflect an expansive range of artists who released recordings during the eligibility period (June 1, 2020 through May 31, 2021). All songs that are considered for nominations must contain a minimum percentage of lyric content in Spanish or Portuguese that ranges from 51% to 75%, depending on the category. The only exceptions are for Best New Artist, where artists and groups are not eligible if they have established their public identity in a language other than Spanish or Portuguese, and Best Classical Contemporary Composition, where the work must have been composed by an Ibero-American.

The Latin Academy's online entry process allowed members and record labels to submit entries digitally during the COVID-19 pandemic and paved the way for a very successful virtual screening and nominating process that enabled the participation of a large majority of voting members, regardless of their location. The final round of voting to determine Latin GRAMMY winners will begin on October 8.

The Latin Academy is celebrating the 22nd Annual Latin GRAMMY Awards at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on November 18, 2021. The safety of guests, nominees and performers is the most urgent priority. The organization is closely monitoring industry, county, state and federal health guidelines while continuing to plan this year's ceremony and auxiliary events.

Turner Broadcasting Joins Warner Bros. Pictures to Make Sure We Know About "Pan"

Warner Bros. Pictures and Turner Broadcasting Want You to “Discover Your Neverland”

The Time Warner Sister Companies Take Cross-Platform Sponsorship to Great Heights for the Upcoming Feature Release of “Pan,” with Exclusive Content to Span Broadcast and Digital Outlets, Including Cartoon Network, TNT, TBS, Turner Sports and truTV

BURBANK, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Warner Bros. Pictures and Turner Broadcasting System, Inc., both under the Time Warner Corporation, have come together in a huge way to celebrate the coming release of the wholly original family action adventure “Pan,” with exclusive content and messaging appearing across Turner’s youth, young adult and sports properties. The partnership leads into the film’s North American theatrical release on October 9, 2015.

“By leveraging Warner Bros.’ powerful ‘Discover Your Neverland’ content, as well as having the right Turner properties put their own creative spin on that message through their unique voice, we are able to deliver a massive audience in a targeted and authentic way.”

Discover Your Neverland! Like the movie itself, the inspiration behind the partnership’s theme is to remind audiences everywhere of the importance of childhood wonderment, of creating a fantasy world to escape to and, most importantly, of the value of a child’s imagination.

Sue Kroll, President, Worldwide Marketing and Distribution, Warner Bros. Pictures, stated, “Joe Wright has created a larger-than-life version of Peter Pan that is exciting and compelling, and visually astounding. With the goal of bringing moviegoers everywhere together to ‘Discover Your Neverland,’ our marketing team and our partners at Turner have developed a focused and inspired strategy incorporating exclusive content from the film and its talented cast, including global star Hugh Jackman. Utilizing the broad reach of their various platforms, such as Cartoon Network, TNT and TBS, Turner has built the ideal creative environments for fans of all ages to engage in the wonder of Neverland, up to and through the release of the film.”

“This strategic partnership with Warner Bros. is a great showcase of Turner’s ability to combine targeting with unmatched creativity across our premium portfolio of networks,” said Dan Riess, Executive Vice President of Integrated Marketing and Branded Content, Turner Broadcasting Ad Sales. “By leveraging Warner Bros.’ powerful ‘Discover Your Neverland’ content, as well as having the right Turner properties put their own creative spin on that message through their unique voice, we are able to deliver a massive audience in a targeted and authentic way.”

With a late summer launch the week of September 14, Cartoon Network’s television broadcast medium led the charge with on-air executions featuring two all-new characters, “C” and “N,” interacting with “Pan” stars Hugh Jackman and Levi Miller as they each describe their own idea of Neverland, and showcase scenes from the movie. Beginning on October 2, TBS will air Jackman’s faux advertisement inviting viewers to escape the drudgery of their everyday lives by escaping to Neverland, where perks include mining, zip-lining and battling pirates! On TNT, where action and adventure are mainstays, the on-air execution will air beginning on October 3 and will feature Jackman offering up a means to find magic via a map to Neverland. On October 4, Turner Sports takes it out to the ball game with a three-tiered ad opportunity appearing throughout a Major League Baseball game. And from October 5 through 9, Jackman reveals to truTV fans just “How to find Neverland.”

The digital “Pan” experience Turner is bringing to users encompasses their vast landscape, leaving no stone in Neverland unturned. In concert with the broadcast debut on September 14, and running through October 11, Cartoon Network, the number one site for boys looking to enjoy animated video content, began tapping into both mobile and desktop environments with short, engaging custom videos featuring the stars of the film. Content was introduced throughout CartoonNetwork.com, including CN Games Hosting, and their top mobile applications: Cartoon Network APP and Cartoon Network Anything, and all high-impact interactive arenas.

The Cartoon Network App puts kids in control and allows them to discover content wherever, whenever. For the month leading up to and through the film’s opening weekend, it will feature, among other things, an all-encompassing “Pan”-dedicated section within its On Demand Viewing area, where kids can explore and revisit all “Pan”-related content at their fingertips. And the App’s all-new feature, The Mix, which allows users to custom curate their video experience, will feature interviews with Jackman, Miller and Garrett Hedlund, as well as Miller’s “Top 5 Heroic Moments” from the film.

CN Anything taps directly into a child’s curiosity by encouraging exploration while incorporating specific learning and development themes designed for kids age 6 to 11. For the first time ever in CN Anything, “Pan” will receive exclusive ownership of the environment, and welcome kids into the application via custom introductory videos with stars Miller and Hedlund, encouraging fans to engage with movie-themed activities and more peppered throughout: quizzes, trivia and polls, and Neverland-themed draw-and-paint, word puzzles, and interactive video quizzes.

CN Games Hosting will introduce three all-new “Pan” games: Mermaid Rescue, Become the Pan, and Escape to Neverland, created by Warner Bros. Within each environment, gamers will have the opportunity to view the latest “Pan” trailer.

Throughout the partnership’s flight, “Pan”-branded media will maintain an exclusive run within the Adventure Time franchise, in both games and video, across all platforms, with the content between on-air, digital and mobile connecting to kids everywhere, and social media opportunities connecting “Pan” fans to one another around the globe.

Finally, in support of “Pan,” fans will be further engaged through a custom-created multi-screen interactive pre-roll unit that runs across CartoonNetwork.com, mobile web and CN app. Users can interact with the unit by hovering over the lower third of the video, where interactive icons will pop-up, and clicking on the pop-up graphic, which will unveil further fun “Pan”-related activities and engaging video content.

About “Pan”
From director Joe Wright comes “Pan,” a live-action feature presenting a wholly original adventure about the beginnings of the beloved characters created by J.M. Barrie. The film stars Oscar nominee Hugh Jackman (“Les Misérables”) as Blackbeard; Garrett Hedlund as James Hook; Oscar nominee Rooney Mara (“The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo”) as Tiger Lily; newcomer Levi Miller as Peter; and Amanda Seyfried as Mary.

Peter is a mischievous 12-year-old boy with an irrepressible rebellious streak, but in the bleak London orphanage where he has lived his whole life those qualities do not exactly fly. Then one incredible night, Peter is whisked away from the orphanage and spirited off to a fantastical world of pirates, warriors and fairies called Neverland. There, he finds amazing adventures and fights life-or-death battles while trying to uncover the secret of his mother, who left him at the orphanage so long ago, and his rightful place in this magical land. Teamed with the warrior Tiger Lily and a new friend named James Hook, Peter must defeat the ruthless pirate Blackbeard to save Neverland and discover his true destiny—to become the hero who will forever be known as Peter Pan.

Wright directed “Pan” from a screenplay written by Jason Fuchs. Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter and Oscar nominee Paul Webster produced the film, with Tim Lewis serving as executive producer.

Warner Bros. Pictures Presents, in association with RatPac-Dune Entertainment, a Berlanti Production, a Joe Wright film, “Pan.” Distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company, it is set for a worldwide release in 2D and RealD 3D.

The film has been rated PG by the MPAA for fantasy action violence, language and some thematic material. www.panmovie.com

CraveOnline Celebrates TNT's "The Last Ship" at San Diego Comic-Con International 2014

CraveOnline and TNT’s The Last Ship Storm Comic-Con by Sea with Exclusive Concert Event, Featuring MGMT and Grimes, on the USS Midway

Comic-Con 2014

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Evolve Media’s CraveOnline Media (http://www.craveonline.com), the largest online male lifestyle publisher, announced today their all new Comic-Con activation aboard San Diego’s USS Midway: CraveOnline Conquers the Con, in conjunction with TNT’s The Last Ship. On Friday, July 25, select guests will board the Comic-Con-adjacent aircraft carrier to enjoy cocktails, games, and most notably, performances by MGMT and Grimes. This is CraveOnline’s third online/offline co-promotion with TNT, and the second to take place at Comic-Con.

“Throughout the entire planning process, our goal was to build an event that would not only cater to CraveOnline’s massive music and entertainment audiences, but to create an unforgettable experience—one that would distance us from the usual distractions surrounding Comic-Con”

Upon boarding the USS Midway, guests will step into a fully branded entryway, immersing themselves into the world of The Last Ship—TNT’s hit new post-apocalyptic series about the crew of a Navy destroyer searching for the cure to a global pandemic. Guests will then head through the similarly themed Science Lab, where footage from the show can be viewed. From there, they can partake in the Laser Maze, a laser-tag style target practice meant to take down intruders who threaten the cure. For a select group, refuge can be found in the TNT-hosted VIP Hangar Bay Lounge. Meanwhile, all guests are invited to peruse the Loot Lounge for specialty cocktails—and to then head to the main deck to have their photo taken in front of real fighter jets.

The evening will culminate with an opening DJ set by Grimes, followed by an exclusive performance from the Grammy Award-winning group MGMT on the CraveOnline stage.

Readers at home can keep up with complete coverage of the event, along with all Comic-Con news, on CraveOnline.com—which will display branded takeovers by TNT’s The Last Ship.

“This party is the perfect way to celebrate TNT’s The Last Ship, this year's #1 cable series,” said Tricia Melton, Senior Vice President of Entertainment Marketing and Branding for TBS, TNT and Turner Classic Movies (TCM). “We're excited to be joining forces with CraveOnline for a truly unique event onboard a vessel that mirrors the program perfectly. This party is certain to be an experience unlike any other at Comic-Con.”

“Throughout the entire planning process, our goal was to build an event that would not only cater to CraveOnline’s massive music and entertainment audiences, but to create an unforgettable experience—one that would distance us from the usual distractions surrounding Comic-Con,” said John Keefer, General Manager of CraveOnline and Vice President of Evolve Media. “Securing the USS Midway was crucial to visually set us apart, while our loyal friends at TNT have made it easy—and fun—to create a fantastically immersive experience. Exclusive concert sets by MGMT and Grimes will provide an exhilarating ending to an extraordinary night.”

About TNT's The Last Ship
This summer, TNT is topping the charts with its new action-packed drama series The Last Ship, starring Eric Dane (Grey's Anatomy) and executive-produced by blockbuster filmmaker Michael Bay (Transformers). Airing Sundays at 9 p.m. (ET/PT), The Last Ship ranks as basic cable's #1 new series so far this year. The show takes place in the midst of a global catastrophe that nearly decimates the world's population. Because of its positioning, the Navy destroyer U.S.S. Nathan James avoids falling victim to the devastating tragedy. But now the crew and its captain must confront the reality of their new existence in a world where they may be among the few remaining survivors.

Dane stars as Captain Tom Chandler, a career Navy man who is authoritative and decisive, but also fair and courageous. A born leader and a loving father and husband, Chandler is respected and loved by the men and women under his command. The Last Ship also stars Rhona Mitra (Strike Back) as Rachel Scott, a strong-willed, intelligent and fearless paleomicrobiologist assigned to the Nathan James to investigate the cause of billions of deaths worldwide. Adam Baldwin (Firefly, Chuck) is Slattery, the ship's second-in-command who worries deeply about his family and occasionally clashes with Dane's Captain Chandler over the best course of action. The series also stars Travis Van Winkle (Heart of Dixie), Charles Parnell (Pariah), Christina Elmore (Fruitvale Station), Sam Spruell (Snow White and The Huntsman) and Marissa Neitling (Leverage).

The Last Ship is based on William Brinkley's popular novel and comes to TNT from Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes and its partners, Brad Fuller and Andrew Form, whose credits include the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Bay, Fuller and Form serve as executive producers, along with showrunner Hank Steinberg (creator of Without a Trace, The Nine), Steven Kane (The Closer) and director Jack Bender (Lost).

2014 Screen Actors Guild Awards Nominations - TV Categories List

by Amos Semien

The Screen Actors Guild (SAG) is an American labor union that represents film and television performers worldwide.  Most people probably know SAG for the various actors’ strikes or for the Screen Actors Guild Award, which SAG uses to honor outstanding performances by its members.  The first SAG Awards ceremony was held in February 1995 (for films released in 1994).

The 20th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards nominations were announced on Wednesday, December 11, 2013.  In the television categories, Breaking Bad led with 4 nominations.  “The Big Bang Theory,” “Modern Family,” and “30 Rock” each had three nominations.

Winners will be announced at the 20th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards® ceremony.  The ceremony will be simulcast live nationally on TNT and TBS on Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014 at 8 p.m. (ET)/5 p.m. (PT) from the Los Angeles Shrine Exposition Center.

An encore presentation will air immediately following live telecast on TNT only at 10 p.m. (ET)/7 p.m. (PT).  A live stream of the SAG Awards can also be viewed online through the TBS and TNT websites, as well as through the “Watch TBS” and “Watch TNT” apps for iOS or Android.  Apparently, viewers who want to use these apps must sign in using their TV provider user name and password in order to view the live stream.

"Iron Man 3" Kicks Off Capetown Film Fest

ADVANCE SCREENING OF MARVEL’S “IRON MAN 3” WILL KICK OFF THE ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY CAPETOWN FILM FESTIVAL SPONSORED BY TNT’s FALLING SKIES AT THE EGYPTIAN THEATRE ON APRIL 30TH

Screening Offers Festival Goers a Sneak Preview of Marvel’s Highly Anticipated Iron Man 3

Entertainment Weekly announced that a complimentary advance screening of Marvel’s “Iron Man 3” will kick off the EW CapeTown Film Festival (CapeTown) at the Egyptian Theatre in Los Angeles on Tuesday, April 30. The inaugural film festival, co-presented by Entertainment Weekly and American Cinematheque, and sponsored by TNT’s Falling Skies, will host a screening of Marvel’s “Iron Man 3” before the film opens in theaters on May 3. Following the screening, there will be a Q&A session with Kevin Feige, producer of Marvel’s “Iron Man 3” and Marvel Studios’ President.

Marvel’s “Iron Man 3” pits brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds. When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy's hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man?

Starring Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall, Stephanie Szostak, James Badge Dale with Jon Favreau and Ben Kingsley, Marvel’s “Iron Man 3” is directed by Shane Black from a screenplay by Drew Pearce & Shane Black and is based on Marvel’s iconic Super Hero Iron Man, who first appeared on the pages of “Tales of Suspense” (#39) in 1963 and had his solo comic book debut with “The Invincible Iron Man” (#1) in May of 1968.

Marvel’s “Iron Man 3” is presented by Marvel Studios in association with Paramount Pictures and DMG Entertainment. Marvel Studios’ President Kevin Feige is producing and Jon Favreau, Louis D’Esposito, Charles Newirth, Victoria Alonso, Stephen Broussard, Alan Fine, Stan Lee and Dan Mintz are executive producers. The film releases May 3, 2013, and is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY ANNOUNCES FRIDAY NIGHT LINE-UP FOR “CAPETOWN FILM FESTIVAL

SPONSORED BY TNT’s FALLING SKIES AT THE EGYPTIAN THEATRE

Film Legend Kurt Russell to Make Rare Appearance for May 3rd Q&A and Exclusive Screening of Escape from New York

Six Day Festival to Run April 30th – May 5th in Los Angeles

Entertainment Weekly today announced the coveted Friday night slot for the recently announced EW CapeTown Film Festival (CapeTown ) in Los Angeles. The inaugural film festival, in conjunction with American Cinematheque and sponsored by TNT’s Falling Skies, will bring a new print of John Carpenter’s 1981 futuristic sci-fi cult classic, Escape from New York, back to the big screen. In a rare on-stage appearance, Kurt Russell will join fans for a 40-minute Q&A with Entertainment Weekly senior writer Geoff Boucher to discuss his role as the gritty, one-eyed Snake Plissken; a role that helped change the course of his career. It also began a feature film partnership between Russell and Carpenter that lead to additional classic genre feature films that included The Thing (1982), Big Trouble in Little China (1986), and Escape from L.A. (1996).

Escape from New York will be one of the six days of programming and will be accompanied by a special free big-screen preview presentation of the season three premiere of Falling Skies, the TNT sci-fi series that stars Noah Wyle and Moon Bloodgood and traces the post-invasion struggles of humanity to fight against the invaders -- and to fight against extinction. The Friday night program of the Falling Skies preview and Escape from New York screening will begin at 7 p.m with a brief intermission in between the two.

The EW CapeTown Festival will run from Tuesday, April 30th through Sunday, May 5th at the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood, CA. The film fest will offer sci-fi, super-hero, and fantasy fans the opportunity to see their favorites on the big screen, and hear from the visionaries and biggest stars from the genre who have brought them to life.

The complete festival line-up with dates, times and ticket sales information will be announced on April 4th and tickets will go on sale April 8th.

"Return of the Jedi" Returns for New Film Festival

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY ANNOUNCES THE “CAPETOWN FILM FESTIVAL” SPONSORED BY TNT’s FALLING SKIES AT THE EGYPTIAN THEATRE IN HOLLYWOOD, CA

Sci-Fi, Superhero, and Fantasy Screenings with Q&A Panels and Special Guests

Six-Day Festival to Run April 30th – May 5

(NEW YORK, NY) - March 20, 2013 - Entertainment Weekly today announced that they will launch the Entertainment Weekly CapeTown Film Festival (CapeTown ) in conjunction with American Cinematheque and sponsored by TNT’s Falling Skies. The festival will run from Tuesday, April 30th through Sunday, May 5th at the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood, CA. The EW CapeTown Film Festival will offer sci-fi, super-hero, and fantasy fans the opportunity to see their favorites on the big screen, and hear from the visionaries and biggest stars from the genre who have brought them to life.

The EW CapeTown Film Festival will make its super-heroic debut with a six-day event featuring fan favorite films, including some that will be returning to the big screen for the first time in many years, alongside rare live Q&A panels with their filmmakers – and a surprise or two. Panels will be hosted by Entertainment Weekly senior writers Geoff Boucher, Jeff Jensen and others. A highlight of the festival will be a very special “May the Fourth Be with You” screening of Return of the Jedi on Saturday, May 4th. The screening celebrates the film’s 30th anniversary and will be one of the few times since 1997 that moviegoers can experience it on the big screen. “We’re thrilled to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Return of the Jedi with a screening at the Egyptian - the very same theatre where it premiered in May, 1983,” said Bill Gannon, Managing Editor, EW.com.

Earlier this year, EW.com launched CapeTown (ew.com/capetown), a new digital destination devoted to the intersection of Hollywood and "Comic-Con culture" -- the surging scene that encompasses super-hero, sci-fi, fantasy and horror that stretches across film, television, gaming, comics and novels. "Fantasy, sci-fi and super-heroes have transformed nearly every entertainment medium the past few years. EW's CapeTown Festival celebrates these fantastic genres and gives our audience front-row access to the entertainers creating modern mythology," said Jess Cagle, Editor of Entertainment Weekly.

The complete festival line-up and ticket sales information will be released soon.
