Starz Lights up Two-Season Renewal for Original Series “Power”

Season Three Premiere Scores Record-Breaking Viewership

Creator and Executive Producer Courtney A. Kemp and Executive Producer Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson Return

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Following the record-shattering Season Three premiere on July 17, 2016, Starz President and Chief Executive Officer Chris Albrecht announced today that the network has greenlit the hit series “Power” for fourth and fifth seasons. Each season the series has continued to establish several all-time high performances for STARZ viewership, with the Season Three premiere growing more than 58% from the Season Two and 389% from Season One premieres respectively.1

“I knew ‘Power’ was going to be something special from the first concept meeting I had with Mark Canton. The fans support for the show has been the driving force of its success and I can't wait to bring them two more seasons full of action and suspense.”

This is the first multi-season pickup for the New York-based drama starring Omari Hardwick. Creator, executive producer and showrunner Courtney A. Kemp will return alongside executive producers Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, Mark Canton, Randall Emmett and Gary Lennon.

About “Power”
From Executive Producer Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson and show creator Courtney A. Kemp (“The Good Wife”) comes season three of the hit drama “Power,” steeped in the seductive nightlife of New York’s elite and the violent underworld of international drug cartels.

Season Three finds James St. Patrick as the owner of new nightclubs, out of the drug game and in a rekindled relationship with his first love, Angela — the Assistant United States Attorney sworn to bring him to justice. But just as they begin to believe James’ past criminal persona of ‘Ghost’ may finally be behind them, both are forced to face the consequences of running from a life from which no one gets away clean.

James’ estranged best friend Tommy has just reunited with his newly returned love, Holly, but must attempt to not only rebuild Lobos’ devastated drug organization, but to kill ‘Ghost’ — turning brother against brother.

About “Power”
“Power” is the story of a visionary crime drama set in two different worlds: the glamorous New York club scene and the brutal drug trade.

Ghost’s work troubles pale in comparison to juggling his relationship with his wife, Tasha, and his first love, Angela, who’s also an Assistant U.S. Attorney investigating his drug organization. Ghost is set further back from his dream by his business partner, Tommy, who loves the drug game, and his former mentor, Kanan, fresh out of jail and looking for revenge.

“Power” is led by Omari Hardwick (Sparkle, For Colored Girls, Kick Ass, “Being Mary Jane”) as main character ‘James “Ghost” St. Patrick’; Lela Loren (Snitch, “Gang Related”) who plays ‘Angela Valdes’, an old flame of James’ who unexpectedly reenters his life; Naturi Naughton (Fame, “The Client List,” “Mad Men”) as ‘Tasha St. Patrick’, wife, confidant and willing accomplice to James; and Joseph Sikora (Jack Reacher, Safe, “Boardwalk Empire”) who plays ‘Tommy Egan’, childhood best friend and business partner to “Ghost.” Sinqua Walls (“Teen Wolf,” “Friday Night Lights,” “The Secret Life of the American Teenager”) stars as ‘Shawn’, driver to the St. Patrick family and son of ‘Kanan’, played by Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, who taught Ghost and Tommy everything they know.

Executive produced by Jackson, “Power” was created by Courtney Kemp Agboh (Emmy® nominated for "The Good Wife"), who serves as executive producer and showrunner. Mark Canton (300, Immortals, 300: Rise of an Empire), Randall Emmett (End of Watch, 2 Guns, Lone Survivor) also serves as executive producer. The series is produced in association with CBS Television Studios, G-Unit Film and Television - the production company launched by Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson, Kemp Agboh’s Mawuli Productions Inc. and Canton’s Atmosphere Television.

Review: "Escape Plan" Almost Old-Timey

TRASH IN MY EYE No. 13 (of 2014) by Leroy Douresseaux

Escape Plan (2013)
Running time:  115 minutes (1 hour, 55 minutes)
MPAA – R for violence and language throughout
DIRECTOR:  Mikael HÃ¥fström
WRITERS:  Miles Chapman and Jason Keller; from a story by Miles Chapman
PRODUCERS:  Robbie Brenner, Mark Canton, Remington Chase, Randall Emmett, and Kevin King-Templeton
CINEMATOGRAPHER:  Brendan Galvin (D.o.P.)
EDITOR:  Elliot Greenberg
COMPOSER:  Alex Heffes

ACTION

Starring:  Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jim Caviezel, Faran Tahir, Amy Ryan, Sam Neill, Vincent D’Onofrio, Vinnie Jones, Matt Gerald, Caitriona Balfe, Alec Rayme, and Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson

Escape Plan is a 2013 action movie from director Mikael HÃ¥fström.  The film stars Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger in a tale about a structural-security engineer incarcerated in the world’s most secret and secure prison and the escape plan he concocts with a fellow inmate.

Escape Plan opens in Bendwater Federal Penitentiary and introduces Ray Breslin (Sylvester Stallone).  Breslin seems to be prisoner, but actually, he specializes in breaking out of maximum security prisons in order to test their reliability.  With his partner, Lester Clark (Vincent D’Onofrio), Breslin owns the Los Angeles-based, independent security company, B&C Security, where Breslin studies, researches, and writes about prisons.

Breslin and Clark’s latest client is CIA Agent Jessica Mayer (Caitriona Balfe).  Mayer offers Breslin double his free to break out of the International Detainee Unit, a top-secret prison where the world’s most dangerous criminals and terrorists are held, in order to see if it is really escape-proof.  Breslin takes the identity of a Spanish terrorist named “Anthony Portos,” and prepares to be taken into custody.

The plan goes awry, and Breslin awakens in a glass cell located in a complex full of glass cells.  Warden Willard Hobbes (Jim Caviezel) seems delighted to have “Portos” in his prison.  Fellow inmate, Emil Rottmayer (Arnold Schwarzenegger), seems too eager to get to know him.  Now, Breslin must use all his skills to escape, but this prison seems designed to foil his every move.

If you have to see an action movie, Escape Plan will do.  The first half of the film is a nearly unwatchable bore, but the second half of the film is entertaining.  The plot is stretched past the point of credulity in order for the resolution to make sense.

Escape Plan is a pale imitation of Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger’s 1980s mindless flicks.  From the mid-1980s to the early 1990s, Escape Plan would have been considered a cutting edge techno-thriller; now it’s a shame to see two such venerable stars in such a movie.  Actually, it would make sense for this to be a modern Steven Seagal or even a Jean-Claude Van Damme straight-to-DVD movie.  I must note that Schwarzenegger still looks good, but Stallone’s face is a post-op, plastic surgery wreck.

On the other hand, these two old action movie dogs can still deliver some of what we expect of them.  Escape Plan gives plenty of Stallone brawling, and, in the movie’s last act, we get Schwarzenegger in a classic pose as he fires an automatic weapon, in a way that references him in The Terminator franchise.  I did not ask much of this movie, and thanks to a clunky, listless first half, I almost did get what little I expected.  I will say this:  Escape Plan actually could have been better, so I would like to see Stallone and Schwarzenegger team-up again.

50 Cent Film, "All Things Fall Apart" Due Early 2012

Image Entertainment Acquires All Things Fall Apart Starring Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson and Ray Liotta from Hannibal Pictures

Mario Van Peebles Directs and Co-Stars!

TORONTO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Image Entertainment, Inc. (OTCQB:DISK) has acquired all U.S. rights to the heart-wrenching, yet truly inspirational film, All Things Fall Apart, starring Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, Ray Liotta, Mario Van Peebles and Lynn Whitfield, with Van Peebles directing. The deal was finalized shortly before the beginning of the 2011 Toronto International Film Festival and announced by Image Entertainment’s Chief Acquisitions Officer, Bill Bromiley. All Things Fall Apart is slated for an early 2012 theatrical release with home entertainment, VOD, digital and broadcast to follow under the company’s One Village label.

“We are thrilled to be working with Hannibal Pictures again on such a wonderful film, directed by the talented Mario Van Peebles,” commented Bromiley. “Audiences are going to be quite surprised with 50 Cent’s performance.”

Added Rionda Del Castro, “All Things Fall Apart is a strong emotional film, a labor of love for all involved. Given our superb relationship with Image Entertainment, we know they will nurture the film and help it find the audience it deserves.”

“50 lost so much weight I started calling him 25 Cent,” jokes Van Peebles. “But what impressed me was his willingness to evolve past his rap persona and totally commit to his first dramatic lead without relying on guns. No backup, this is 50 like you have never seen him.”

All Things Fall Apart tells the story of a Heisman-bound college football star whose career hits a wall when he is diagnosed with a tumor only inches from his heart. Says Rionda Del Castro, “I found the script compelling and heartfelt, and have always admired Mario Van Peebles as a director. What finally sold me was a meeting with ‘50’ during pre-production.” Rionda Del Castro arrived for the meeting and did not recognize Jackson, who had shed a reported 80 pounds in preparation for the role. “I was stunned by his dedication to the movie. At that moment, before a frame of film had been shot, I knew we had something special.”

All Things Fall Apart is produced by Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson and Randall Emmett of Cheetah Vision Films. Patricia Eberle, Rionda Del Castro, Anthony Gudas, and Michael Corso are the executive producers. All Things Fall Apart marks Hannibal Pictures’ third collaboration with Cheetah Vision Films. Their previous film together, the action-packed Gun co-starring Val Kilmer, was released on DVD in early 2011 by Image Entertainment, and their next film Setup, co-starring Bruce Willis and Ryan Phillippe, will be released later this month.

All Things Fall Apart has played to packed theaters at several film festivals, including the Miami International Film Festival, the Atlanta Film Festival, the Aruba International Film Festival and the Peachtree Village International Film Festival in Atlanta, with more than 20 foreign territories sold to-date.

50 Cent Working on New Film
