"Annedroids" Gets Second Season on Amazon Prime

Second Season of Amazon Original Kids Series Annedroids is Now Available for Amazon Prime Members in the US and UK

From creator J.J. Johnson (Dino Dan), the new season of the Emmy-nominated live-action adventure features the voice of Geena Davis (Grey’s Anatomy)

Children’s series celebrates STEM curriculum through Anne and her friends and inspires children—through trial and error—to identify problems, ask questions, and experiment

SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--(NASDAQ: AMZN)—Amazon today announced that the second season of its Emmy-nominated original kids series Annedroids is now available for Amazon Prime members in the US and UK. Created by Emmy Award-winning producer/director J.J. Johnson (Dino Dan) and Sinking Ship Entertainment (Odd Squad), the new season features the voice of Geena Davis (Grey’s Anatomy) and is aimed at children aged six through 11. Annedroids is a live-action adventure series about Anne, a young female scientist, her human friends and the android assistants she’s created, and the amazing scientific discoveries they make while undertaking the biggest experiment of them all: growing up. The series spotlights, through trial and error, how science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) can inspire children to do great things.

“Anne continues to be a remarkable role model, for boys and girls alike. While her big ideas and desire to learn may lead her to make mistakes, through trial and error, she’s constantly making unusual connections and innovating.”
The second season of Annedroids finds Anne (Addison Holley, Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood) and friends back in the junkyard for more experiments, taking their adventures to the next level. As Nick (Jadiel Dowlin) and Shania (Adrianna Di Liello, Stage Fright) return to school after spending their summer in the junkyard, Anne finds new ways to stay in touch using Pidgely, a pigeon with a broken wing she equips with a rocket suit. Pal (voiced by Millie Davis, Orphan Black) ventures outside the junkyard and expresses a desire to be a real kid. Also this season, a mysterious robotics scientist offers Anne the opportunity of a lifetime, forcing Anne to make some tough decisions about her friends, family and future. Along the way, the kids use DNA to track a lost dog, confront dinosaurs in nightmares, and send the androids to space.

“After seeing such a positive response from our customers, we’re thrilled to debut another season of Annedroids,” said Tara Sorensen, Head of Kids Programming at Amazon Studios. “Anne continues to be a remarkable role model, for boys and girls alike. While her big ideas and desire to learn may lead her to make mistakes, through trial and error, she’s constantly making unusual connections and innovating.”

“There’s a reason Common Sense Media ranked Anne from Annedroids as one of their top 10 best role models for kids: she loves knowledge, fosters curiosity in her friends and delights at solving problems,” said J.J. Johnson, series Creator and Executive Producer. “In season two, Anne will have a lot of new problems to solve including intruders to the junkyard, broken pigeons, escaped dinosaurs and how to get an android into space. Or as Anne would say ‘just another day in the junkyard.’”

Annedroids recently received a Daytime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Directing in a Children’s or Pre-School Children’s Series as well as the Grand Prize for Best Production, All Categories at the Youth Media Alliance Awards of Excellence. Additionally, the series received the IPST Education Award at The Goethe Institut Science Film Festival 2014, a Parents’ Choice Foundation’s Silver Honor, and three Young Artist Awards. Common Sense Media also named Anne’s character a top 10 best role model in children’s TV.

Prime members can now watch episodes from the first and second seasons of Annedroids as often as they would like ad-free with the Amazon Video app for TVs, connected devices and mobile devices, or online at amazon.com/annedroids, at no additional cost to their membership. Customers who are not already Prime members can sign up for a free trial at amazon.com/prime. Additionally, a free Annedroids app with two full episodes and six games is downloadable exclusively for Fire devices at the Amazon App Store. Annedroids is also available as part of Amazon FreeTime Unlimited, the all-you-can-eat subscription service designed from the ground up for kids. FreeTime Unlimited is available exclusively on Amazon devices including Amazon Fire TV and Fire tablets, and a year-long subscription is included with every Fire HD Kids Edition.

Lara Croft Returns in the Comic Book, "Lara Croft and the Frozen Omen"

LARA CROFT RETURNS IN ‘LARA CROFT AND THE FROZEN OMEN’

CORINNA BECHKO AND RANDY GREEN BRING HIGH-SPIRITED ACTION AND CLASSIC ADVENTURE

MILWAUKIE, OR—Lara Croft® is back with dual pistols, sharp wit, and an eye for action as acclaimed writer Corinna Bechko takes on the video game icon in Lara Croft and the Frozen Omen this October.

Based in the same universe as the Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris® and Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light® video games from Crystal Dynamics, Lara Croft and the Frozen Omen is a five issue miniseries written by Bechko and illustrated by Tomb Raider® comics veteran Randy Green.

In this all-new adventure, Lara must stop a group of cultists from causing world-wide cataclysmic devastation, and ancient ivory artifacts hold the key to both salvation and destruction! It’s a race against time in Lara’s new quest, filled with incredible action, dual pistols, and non-stop adventure.

“Lara is incredibly fun to write,” Bechko told Polygon. “She doesn’t suffer fools, she’s smart, and she’s talented. She’s always ready for action, but she’s not afraid to think through a problem either. And she doesn’t ever wait around for someone else to save her. There’s a lot of satisfaction in writing a character like that.”

“We’re excited to continue our partnership with Dark Horse on a new Lara Croft comic,” said Rich Briggs, Brand Director at Crystal Dynamics. “This globe-trotting series is filled with the dual gun-wielding action and confident flair that nostalgic Lara Croft fans will love. It’s a great companion to the existing Tomb Raider comics, and offers fans another way to go on a high-octane adventure with Lara.”

Tom Mandrake and John Ostrander Announce "Kros: Hallowed Ground" Comic Book

Comic Book Legends Mandrake & Ostrander Launch Kros: Hallowed Ground

Vampire horror at Gettysburg in this dark and haunting Civil War era tale from John Ostrander and Tom Mandrake.

War is hell and vampires have brought their own hell to the war between the North and the South. By day, the armies of both sides clash in bloody conflict: by night, the vampires emerge to feast on the wounded and the dying as Blood calls to Blood.

Against this army of  hungry undead rides one man, a vampire slayer known only as Kros. Alone against a vampire army, Kros, a dampyr with an inborn hatred of vampires, knows that if he fails he could become one of the creatures he loathes.

Inspired by films in the genre of John Carpenter's The Thing and stories like Ambrose Bierce's Occurrence at Owl Creek, KROS: HALLOWED GROUND melds history and horror. Writer, John Ostrander, says, “ KROS is THE story we've been wanting to tell! Neither of us are afraid of the dark or taking you there with us! KROS: HALLOWED GROUND isn't only about the war between North and South—to a vampire, you're all part of the feast!”

THE CREATORS
Renowned for their dark, chilling stories on The Spectre series for DC Comics, as well as for their runs on Martian Manhunter, Batman Grotesk and The Kents,  Ostrander and Mandrake are are thrilled to be collaborating once again on KROS: HALLOWED GROUND.  “Working and creating together, we feed off each others energy,” says Ostrander. Mandrake adds. “Doing this graphic novel as a creator-owned project will allow us to take what we've done before to the next level.” Add to that mix Tom's daughter, Sian Mandrake, on color for the title. “My first thought was to do Kros as a black and white,” says Mandrake,” but Sian's color brings out the moody atmosphere I am going for with the art.”

THE KICKSTARTER
Tom Mandrake and John Ostrander have launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds their new Civil War era horror graphic novel, KROS: HALLOWED GROUND. “KROS has been waiting in the wings for far too long,” says Ostrander. “War is hell--war can also be a nightmare. War is always a horror story and we have a hell of a story to tell.”  Mandrake, who recently traveled to Gettysburg to sketch the battlefields and to try to understand the scope of what took place there, agrees. “Many who have visited Gettysburg will swear they have seen a soldier standing on those battlefields.  There is a haunting atmosphere there. Ghosts still walk.”

Ostrander and Mandrake are funding KROS: HALLOWED GROUND though Kickstarter because they want to bring their fans and readers the kind of story that is not often seen in mainstream comics. KROS: HALLOWED GROUND is a tale of supernatural obsession, the horror of war and of the monster lurking within humankind.

THE GRAPHIC NOVEL
KROS: HALLOWED GROUND is a graphic novel created by John Ostrander (GrimJack, Suicide Squad, The Spectre, Star Wars: Legacy) and Tom Mandrake (The Spectre, John Carpenter's Asylum, Lance Henrikson and Joe Maddrey's To Hell You Ride). John Ostrander's haunting story of obsession and vengence features darkly atmospheric and brooding artwork and cover by Tom Mandrake.
