“The Meg” Devours More Than $500 Million at the Global Box Office
BURBANK, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Chomp on this! Warner Bros. Pictures and Gravity Pictures’ sci-fi action thriller “The Meg” swam past $500 million at the worldwide box office, and still counting. The announcement was made today by Ron Sanders, Warner Bros.’ President of Worldwide Theatrical Distribution and Home Entertainment.
In making the announcement, Ron Sanders said, “‘The Meg’ is a pure popcorn film that is a perfect way to cap off the summer. A deep-sea submersible—part of an international undersea observation program—has been attacked by a massive creature and now lies disabled at the bottom of the deepest part of the Pacific Ocean…with its crew trapped inside. With time running out, former deep-sea rescue diver Jonas Taylor is drawn out of self-imposed exile by a visionary Chinese oceanographer, Dr. Zhang, against the wishes of his daughter, Suyin, who thinks she can rescue the crew on her own. Todd Phillips helms a gritty origin story starring Joaquin Phoenix and Robert De Niro
Principal photography has begun on Warner Bros. Pictures’ “Joker,” starring Oscar nominee Joaquin Phoenix in the title role, alongside Oscar winner Robert De Niro, and directed, produced and co-written by Oscar nominee Todd Phillips.
“Joker” centers around the iconic arch nemesis and is an original, standalone story not seen before on the big screen. Phillips’ exploration of Arthur Fleck (Phoenix), a man disregarded by society, is not only a gritty character study, but also a broader cautionary tale.
The film also stars Zazie Beetz (“Deadpool 2”), Bill Camp (“Red Sparrow,” “Molly’s Game”), Frances Conroy (TV’s “American Horror Story,” Hulu’s “Castle Rock”), Brett Cullen (“42,” Netflix’s “Narcos”), Glenn Fleshler (TV’s “Billions,” “Barry”), Douglas Hodge (“Red Sparrow,” TV’s “Penny Dreadful”), Marc Maron (TV’s “Maron,” “GLOW”), Josh Pais (upcoming “Motherless Brooklyn,” “Going in Style”), and Shea Whigham (upcoming “First Man,” “Kong: Skull Island”).

5:30pm - K Movie 3 Premiere - (Red Carpet / Main Theatre)
Screening for the first time in the U.S., K: SEVEN STORIES “SIDE: GREEN - Overwrite World.” Delve into the backstory of the mysterious JUNGLE organization and the origins of its two most feared members; the young upstart Sukuna Gojo and the fearsome Yukari Mishakuji. Screening attendees will receive a free K giveaway while supplies last.
7:30pm - K Movies 1-3 Marathon - (Video Room 2)
Anime fans are invited to join VIZ Media for an encore presentation of the first three installments in K: Seven Stories. Featuring K: SEVEN STORIES “R:B - BLAZE -,” K: SEVEN STORIES “SIDE:BLUE - SIRIUS -” and K: SEVEN STORIES “SIDE:GREEN - Overwrite World –.”
