LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--WaterTower Music announced the details of the soundtrack to Ready Player One, Steven Spielberg’s action adventure based on Ernest Cline’s best-selling book of the same name. The film is in theaters March 29, 2018, and the soundtrack, featuring the score by award-winning composer Alan Silvestri (The Avengers, the Back to the Future Trilogy, Forrest Gump), becomes available for streaming and digital purchase the next day. A two-CD version of the soundtrack is slated for an April 6, 2018 release, with a Double Vinyl configuration of the soundtrack available July 13, 2018.

The film’s director/producer Steven Spielberg notes, “While all sorts of culturally iconic references populate Ready Player One, the score that Alan Silvestri composed is completely and intoxicatingly original. It’s bound together by multiple themes that identify plot and character and is infused by such percussive adrenaline and soaring strings that Alan has made Ready Player One appear to fly. I think his score is fantastic.”

Though Ready Player One marks their first collaboration on a film directed by Spielberg, Silvestri has scored a number of films produced by the filmmaker, including the Back to the Future films.

The composer says, “An invitation to travel arrived just about a year ago, not just to a place, but to a time. Actually, to a number of times—primarily the year 2045, along with a few stops in the 80s. A rather detailed map had been drawn by Ernest Cline and the Captain of the voyage, none other than Mr. Spielberg himself. What could one possibly do or say? Pencil in hand, one firmly fastens one’s seatbelt, says ‘Sir, Yes, Sir,’ and prepares for the trip of a lifetime.”

About Ready Player One:

Image Comics Sends Tee Franklin's "Bingo Love" Back to Press... Again

TEE FRANKLIN SHAKES UP INDUSTRY NORMS AS BINGO LOVE IS RUSHED BACK TO PRINT FOR A THIRD TIME

PORTLAND, OR — BINGO LOVE—the original graphic novel created and written by Tee Franklin, with art by Jenn St-Onge, colors by Joy San, and cover art by Genevieve FT—is being rushed back to print yet again by Image Comics to keep up with the momentum of the breakout hit.

Since its release on Valentine’s Day, the LGBTQ romance has flown off shelves—garnering critical acclaim and viral attention across social media.

“Wow! A third printing! I am completely humbled, and my heart is so full at the amount of support Bingo Love has received since its announcement,” said Tee Franklin. “Bingo Love has given everyone—from children, adults, to seniors...HOPE. Franklin is a Black, Queer, disabled woman, known in the comics industry as a vocal person of color and advocate for the LGBTQ and disabled community. She is credited for starting the popular hashtag: #BlackComicsMonth, which aims to make comic book fans more aware of talented Black comic creators and their diverse comic book characters and superheroes that already exist in the industry.

Franklin first made waves when her BINGO LOVE title won the 2017 Queer Press Grant and raised almost $60k via Kickstarter. It gained traction in mainstream media for its progressive, LGBTQ-positive narrative.

BINGO LOVE is a story about two Queer, Black women and the love between them that spans decades. It explores the complications of coming out at an older age and how that decision affects their families lives.

Hazel Johnson and Mari McCray are two young, Black girls who meet at church bingo in 1963 and eventually fall in love...but in this time period, their love was not accepted. Hazel and Mari are broken up by their families’ “shame” and go on to marry and have families of their own. Almost 50 years later—in the fever pitch of church bingo—Mari and Hazel are reunited and rediscover the love they have for each other, even though they both are still married.

From DeadlineTV:  The actress DuShone Monique Brown has died at the age of 49, Friday, 23, 2018.  She was best known for her role as "Connie" on NBC's "Chicago Fire."

From Bloomberg:  Charles Lazarus, the founder of Toy 'R' Us, has died at the age of 94, Thursday, March 22, 2018.  Lazarus founded the company as a children's furniture store, and began the company's modern incarnation in 1957.  Toys 'R' Us is currently closing its operations in the United States.

From TheBostonGlobe:  Television personality and entertainer, Frank Avruch, has died at the age of 89, Wednesday, March 21, 2018.  A long time personality at WCVB-TV, Avruch is best known as one of the men who performed "Bozo the Clown."  Avruch played the character from 1959 to 1970.
