Animated Film, "Mariah Carey's All I Want for Christmas Is You" Goes to Amazon

Amazon Prime Video is the Exclusive Subscription Streaming Service for New Animated Film Mariah Carey’s All I Want for Christmas Is You

Mariah Carey’s All I Want for Christmas Is You is now available on Prime Video

The film is also available to buy or rent through Amazon Video and for purchase on DVD and Blu-ray

Mariah Carey’s song “All I Want for Christmas Is You” was the most streamed holiday song on Amazon Music last year

SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--(NASDAQ: AMZN)— Amazon announced a deal with NBCUniversal to make Prime Video the exclusive subscription streaming service for new animated film Mariah Carey’s All I Want for Christmas Is You from Universal 1440 Entertainment. The film is inspired by Mariah’s classic holiday hit of the same name, which was the most streamed holiday song on Amazon Music last year. The movie is narrated and executive produced by Mariah Carey and features a new original song by Mariah Carey and three of her classic holiday hits.

“I am thrilled to have Amazon Prime Video as the exclusive streaming home of Mariah Carey’s All I Want for Christmas Is You. Amazon already brings my music to fans around the world, and now I am excited to share my holiday film with Amazon customers”

“I am thrilled to have Amazon Prime Video as the exclusive streaming home of Mariah Carey’s All I Want for Christmas Is You. Amazon already brings my music to fans around the world, and now I am excited to share my holiday film with Amazon customers,” said Mariah Carey.

When Little Mariah (Breanna Yde) sees a darling little puppy named “Princess” at the pet store, she suddenly knows exactly what she wants for Christmas. Before her Christmas wish can come true, she must prove that she can dog-sit her uncle’s dog, Jack, a scraggly rascal; in fact, the worst dog in the county! Jack turns Mariah and her family’s perfect holiday preparations upside down in hilarious ways. It wasn’t exactly the Christmas she wished for…it was more than she ever wanted. Based on the iconic Christmas song and popular illustrated book of the same name, Mariah Carey’s All I Want for Christmas Is You featuring Mariah’s music and narration will be a family favorite for years to come.

The film is available exclusively for Prime members in the U.S. and Canada to stream, and Amazon customers may start their holiday shopping with the digital movie available for $14.99. Customers looking for a holiday rental have the option to rent for $4.99 (SD) or $5.99 (HD). The DVD and Blu-ray are also available for purchase.

Originally released in 1994, the single “All I Want for Christmas Is You” has sold more than 14 million copies across all retail markets. In 2016, more than two decades later, it dominated at #1 on Billboard’s Holiday 100 for four consecutive weeks. Carey’s critically acclaimed picture book of the same name was published in 2015.

"Storm Over Brooklyn" Documentary to Commemorate Yusuf Hawkins

The American Black Film Festival and Lightbox Announce Winner of the 2017 Documentary Film Initiative

Director Muta’Ali’s Documentary Storm Over Brooklyn to Commemorate the 30th Anniversary of the Racially Motivated Killing of 16-Year-Old Yusuf Hawkins

Inaugural Competition Sponsored by 21st Century Fox and National Geographic

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The American Black Film Festival and Lightbox, the award-winning U.S. and U.K. production company, today announced that director Muta’Ali is the recipient of their first annual documentary film development fund. Muta’Ali will work with Lightbox and ABFF to develop his feature documentary Storm Over Brooklyn.

“Nurturing up-and-coming talent is incredibly important to us at National Geographic, and working with Lightbox and ABFF on this initiative and discovering filmmakers like Muta’Ali is really exciting.”

The ABFF Lightbox Documentary Initiative was launched earlier this year to support and foster documentary filmmakers with diverse voices and perspectives and is sponsored by 21st Century Fox and National Geographic.

Muta’Ali’s Storm Over Brooklyn was selected from over 200 submissions for documentary films that covered a wide range of topics that reflect the experiences of people of color today. ABFF and Lightbox hope to get the film funded and finished in time to have its world premiere at the 23rd annual American Black Film Festival in Miami in June 2019.

Storm Over Brooklyn will revisit the story of Yusuf Hawkins, a black American teenager who was shot to death after being trapped by a group of white youths in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn, on the evening of Aug. 23, 1989. Hawkins had come to Bensonhurst with three friends that day to look at a used car when they were attacked by the hostile mob, whose members mistakenly believed that Hawkins was dating a neighborhood girl who was white. The incident shocked New York and the nation, and unleashed a torrent of racial tension in an already divided city and led to nationally televised protests and marches led by the Rev. Al Sharpton. The growing unrest indubitably contributed to the ousting of New York City Mayor Ed Koch in favor of David Dinkins, who became the city’s first — and as of now, only — African-American mayor. Hawkins was just 16 years old at the time of his death.

“2019 will mark the 30th anniversary of Yusuf Hawkins’ death and all these years later, it is fair to say, we are still living in very precarious times,” said Jeff Friday, founder and CEO, ABFF. “We were incredibly moved by the relevance and power of this story and Muta’Ali’s vision for the film. The ABFF Lightbox Documentary Film Initiative is an extension of what I started with the American Black Film Festival, and I am delighted to be able to provide this new platform in partnership with Lightbox, and we are deeply grateful to National Geographic and 21st Century Fox for standing behind this meaningful initiative.”

Lightbox’s Jonathan Chinn added, “I was immediately impressed with Muta’Ali’s passion and creative ambition for the film. The fact that he has already secured Yusuf’s family’s blessing and their active participation in the film along with the participation of many of the key players in the story points to a film that cannot only enter the ongoing conversation we are still having about racial discrimination in America, but that can do justice to the memory and legacy of Yusuf Hawkins. Lightbox and ABFF are thrilled to be collaborating with Muta’Ali on this important and timely film.”

Lightbox and initiative sponsor National Geographic recently collaborated on the Emmy Award-winning feature documentary LA 92, which used only archival footage to tell the story of the lead-up and conflagration of the civil unrest in Los Angeles in 1992 that followed the acquittal of four white LAPD officers accused of beating Rodney King. LA 92 has recently been nominated for a Cinema Eye Award and two International Documentary Association Awards, including the award for Best Feature.

“National Geographic is thrilled to be part of this year’s inaugural competition, and the selection of Muta’Ali as this year’s winner is a perfect choice,” said Tim Pastore, president of original programming and production for National Geographic Channel. “Nurturing up-and-coming talent is incredibly important to us at National Geographic, and working with Lightbox and ABFF on this initiative and discovering filmmakers like Muta’Ali is really exciting.”

Muta’Ali hails from Westchester County, New York. His debut film, “Life’s Essentials With Ruby Dee,” a documentary about his late grandmother, featured notable subjects including Harry Belafonte, Alan Alda, Phylicia Rashad and Spike Lee. His goal is to have his artistic body of work be wholly focused on what he calls “Love, Art & Activism.” In response to winning the ABFF Lightbox Documentary Film Initiative, Muta’Ali stated, “I am thrilled to have been selected as the first beneficiary of this important initiative. Jeff and Jonathan are the ideal partners to help me take the complex story of Yusuf Hawkins and his killing out of my head and onto screens. I have the utmost respect and appreciation for this opportunity and I look forward to creating a film that is true to who Yusuf was and true to all the people who have fought for equality in his name.”

Amazon Announces Original Drama, "Absentia" For Prime Video

Amazon Prime Video Adds Absentia to its Original Dramatic Series Lineup

Series will debut exclusively to Prime members in the U.S., U.K., Germany and select territories globally in 2018

SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--(NASDAQ: AMZN)—Amazon announced it has added critically acclaimed thriller Absentia to its lineup of original dramatic series—all episodes will debut exclusively on Prime Video in the U.S., as well as in select markets globally, including Australia, Austria, Germany, India, Israel, Italy, Netherlands, Singapore, South Korea, Turkey and the U.K. The series, premiering in 2018, will also be available in additional territories after its linear broadcast debut.

Starring and executive produced by Castle’s Stana Katic, Absentia centers on FBI agent Emily Byrne (Katic). While hunting one of Boston’s most notorious serial killers, Agent Byrne disappears without a trace and is declared dead. Six years later, Emily is found in a cabin in the woods, barely alive, and with no memory of the years she was missing. Returning home to learn her husband has remarried and her son is being raised by another woman, she soon finds herself implicated in a new series of murders.

“Absentia started as a passion project for Sony’s Networks group with a brilliant director and producer and a stellar cast of international talent, all willing to jump into an entirely new model. We are thrilled to share this premium independent drama series with Amazon’s global viewers”

Absentia, produced by Masha Productions and distributed by Sony Pictures Television in association with Sony Pictures Television’s International Networks, garnered much fanfare when it opened this year’s Monte Carlo Television Festival and marks Katic’s first leading television role since Castle. The series was the number-one program in its timeslot when it debuted in Spain, Portugal, Romania and Poland on SPTN's AXN channels (Source: Techedge: Kantar Media [Live+VOSDAL], and ARMA - Kantar Media, Nielsen Audience Measurement; all timeslot rank stats based on competitive set of channels for each market).

The series is executive produced and directed by Oded Ruskin (False Flag), alongside executive producers Matt Cirulnick (South Beach), Julie Glucksman, Katic and Maria Feldman (False Flag, Fauda). The series was created by Gaia Violo and Cirulnick and is based on a pilot script originally written by Violo.

“Absentia is an exciting new thriller which combines family and love with suspense and vindication,” said Brad Beale, Vice President, Worldwide TV Content Acquisition, Amazon Prime Video. “Prime members worldwide are going to love this well written show with remarkable performances by a terrific ensemble cast led by Stana Katic in her newest lead role.”

“Amazon is the perfect home for this innovative new thriller series. We believe Absentia will be a stand-out show for Amazon Prime members around the world,” said Paul Littmann, EVP, Worldwide Television Distribution, Sony Pictures Entertainment.

“Absentia started as a passion project for Sony’s Networks group with a brilliant director and producer and a stellar cast of international talent, all willing to jump into an entirely new model. We are thrilled to share this premium independent drama series with Amazon’s global viewers,” said Marie Jacobson, EVP, Programming & Production, Sony Pictures Television Networks.

Absentia also stars Patrick Heusinger (Jack Reacher: Never Go Back) as Emily’s husband and fellow FBI agent Nick who struggles with the guilt that he stopped looking for Emily, and his feelings for her that have resurfaced—especially now that he’s married to another woman. Nick is now tasked with the unthinkable: having to bring Emily into custody as the prime suspect in a string of shocking new murders. Forced to prove her innocence, Emily goes on the run. But the closer Emily gets to answers, the more she puts herself and her family in danger. Can she prove her innocence before it is too late and discover the truth about her abduction?

In addition to Katic and Heusinger, Absentia’s ensemble cast includes Cara Theobold (Downton Abbey), Neil Jackson (Sleepy Hollow), Angel Bonanni (False Flag), Richard Brake (Game of Thrones), Ralph Ineson (Game of Thrones), Paul Freeman (The Dogs of War), Bruno Bichir (Narcos) and Patrick McAuley (The Conjuring 2).

Absentia will be available for Prime members to stream and enjoy using the Amazon Prime Video app for TVs, connected devices including Amazon Fire TV, and mobile devices, or online with other Amazon Original Series online at Amazon.com/originals, at no additional cost to their membership. Warner Bros. Pictures to Bring Christopher Nolan’s Acclaimed Epic “Dunkirk” Back to the Big Screen

Select IMAX® and 70mm engagements will give audiences one last chance to see one of the year’s best-reviewed films the way it was meant to be seen

BURBANK, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Warner Bros. Pictures is giving moviegoers a final opportunity to see Christopher Nolan’s sweeping epic “Dunkirk” on the big screen. On December 1, 2017, the film will be re-released in a select limited engagement in 50 IMAX® and 70mm locations in 34 domestic markets, including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco, Boston, Philadelphia, Washington DC, Dallas, Atlanta, and Toronto, among others. Following, on January 24, 2018, the film’s re-release will be expanded to include more than 250 additional locations. The announcement was made today by Sue Kroll, President Worldwide Marketing and Distribution, Warner Bros. Pictures.

Kroll stated, “With ‘Dunkirk,’ Christopher Nolan broke new ground in the use of large-format cameras to create a theatrical event that demands to be seen on the largest possible canvas. As we head into the holiday season, we are excited to offer audiences another opportunity to be swept up in this truly immersive moviegoing experience...whether for the first time or again.”

Originally released in July, “Dunkirk,” which tells the story of one of the most monumental events in history, was immediately embraced by critics who praised it as a “masterpiece” and “tour-de-force filmmaking.” The film was also a worldwide box office success, earning more than $524 million to date.

From filmmaker Christopher Nolan (“Interstellar,” “Inception,” “The Dark Knight” Trilogy) comes the epic action thriller “Dunkirk.”

“Dunkirk” opens as hundreds of thousands of British and Allied troops are surrounded by enemy forces. Trapped on the beach with their backs to the sea and home almost within sight, they face an impossible situation as the enemy closes in. As the story unfolds on land, sea and air, RAF Spitfires engage the enemy in the skies above the Channel, trying to protect the defenseless men below. Meanwhile, hundreds of small boats, manned by both military and civilians, embark on a desperate rescue effort, risking their lives in a race against time to save even a fraction of their army. When 400,000 men couldn’t get home, home came for them.

“Dunkirk” features an ensemble cast, including Fionn Whitehead, Tom Glynn-Carney, Jack Lowden, Harry Styles, Aneurin Barnard, James D’Arcy and Barry Keoghan, with Kenneth Branagh, Cillian Murphy, Mark Rylance and Tom Hardy.

Nolan directed “Dunkirk” from his own screenplay, utilizing a mixture of IMAX® and 65mm film to bring the story to the screen. The film was produced by Emma Thomas and Nolan, with Jake Myers serving as executive producer.

The behind-the-scenes creative team includes director of photography Hoyte van Hoytema, production designer Nathan Crowley, editor Lee Smith, costume designer Jeffrey Kurland, visual effects supervisor Andrew Jackson and special effects supervisor Scott Fisher. The music was composed by Hans Zimmer.

Warner Bros. Pictures presents a Syncopy Production, a film by Christopher Nolan, “Dunkirk.” Presented in conventional theatres and IMAX, the film is being distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.

This film has been rated PG-13 for intense war experience and some language.

It opened November 10th in the UK to enthusiastic audiences and universally positive reviews, outpacing its predecessor’s opening weekend numbers by over 60%.

Based on the best-selling and internationally adored series of children’s stories by Michael Bond, the film is once again directed by BAFTA nominee Paul King, from a script by King and Simon Farnaby.
