Image Comics Announces Final Order Cutoff for New Series, "Farmhand"

SOMETHING DARK HAS TAKEN ROOT IN FARMHAND...

PORTLAND, OR — Image Comics is pleased to reveal preview pages from Eisner Award winning co-creator of CHEW Rob Guillory’s forthcoming FARMHAND. The series is set to launch this July.

FARMHAND follows farmer Jedidiah Jenkins whose cash crop isn’t corn or soy… it’s a little more unusual. Jed grows fast-healing, plug-and-play human organs. Lose a finger? Need a new liver? He’s got you covered. Unfortunately, strange produce isn’t the only thing Jed’s got buried. Deep in the soil of the Jenkins Family Farm, something dark has taken root, and it’s beginning to bloom.

FARMHAND is a dark comedy about science gone sinister and agriculture gone apocalyptic. Nature is a Mother.

FARMHAND #1 (Diamond Code MAY180011) hits stores on Wednesday, July 11th, 2018. The final order cutoff for comics retailers is Monday, June 18th, 2018.

See preview pages at Comics Beat here.

Positioned to be a Global Leader as a Modern Media Company

Set to Create the Best Entertainment and Communications Experiences in the World

DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T) has completed its acquisition of Time Warner Inc., bringing together global media and entertainment leaders Warner Bros., HBO and Turner with AT&T’s leadership in technology and its video, mobile and broadband customer relationships.

    “The content and creative talent at Warner Bros., HBO and Turner are first-rate. Combine all that with AT&T’s strengths in direct-to-consumer distribution, and we offer customers a differentiated, high-quality, mobile-first entertainment experience”

“The content and creative talent at Warner Bros., HBO and Turner are first-rate. Combine all that with AT&T’s strengths in direct-to-consumer distribution, and we offer customers a differentiated, high-quality, mobile-first entertainment experience,” said Randall Stephenson, chairman and CEO of AT&T Inc. “We’re going to bring a fresh approach to how the media and entertainment industry works for consumers, content creators, distributors and advertisers.”

Stephenson said the future of media entertainment is rapidly converging around three elements required to transform how video is distributed, paid for, consumed and created. Today, AT&T brings together:

    Premium Content: Broadly distributed, robust premium content portfolio that combines leading movies and shows from Warner Bros., HBO and Turner, along with more targeted digital content from Bleacher Report, FilmStruck and AT&T’s investment in Otter Media, among others.
    Direct to Consumer Distribution (D2C): AT&T has more than 170 million D2C relationships across its TV, video streaming, mobile and broadband services in the U.S., mobile in Mexico, TV in Latin America, in addition to D2C digital properties such as HBO NOW, Boomerang, FilmStruck and CNN.com.
    High-Speed Networks: AT&T‘s leading wireless and fiber network, including investments in new technology such as 5G, will provide the network bandwidth required as customers increase engagement with premium video and emerging 4K and virtual reality content.

Company Structure, Executive Leadership

AT&T Inc. consists of four businesses. This structure allows each business to operate independently and move quickly, while at the same time innovating across AT&T with content, connectivity and advertising. The four business are:

  •     AT&T Communications provides mobile, broadband, video and other communications services to U.S.-based consumers and nearly 3.5 million companies – from the smallest business to nearly all the Fortune 1000 – with highly secure, smart solutions. Revenues from these services totaled more than $150 billion in 2017.
  •     AT&T’s media business consists of HBO, Turner and Warner Bros. Together, these businesses had revenues of more than $31 billion in 2017. A new name for this business will be announced later.
  •     AT&T International provides mobile services in Mexico to consumers and businesses, plus pay-TV service across 11 countries in South America and the Caribbean. It had revenues of more than $8 billion in 2017.
  •     AT&T’s advertising and analytics business provides marketers with advanced advertising solutions using valuable customer insights from AT&T’s TV, mobile and broadband services, combined with extensive ad inventory from Turner and AT&T’s pay-TV services. A name for this company will be announced in the future.

Jeff Bewkes, former chairman and CEO of Time Warner Inc., has agreed to remain with the company as a senior advisor during a transition period. “Jeff is an outstanding leader and one of the most accomplished CEOs around. He and his team have built a global leader in media and entertainment. And I greatly appreciate his continued counsel,” Stephenson said.

As previously announced, leading the four businesses and reporting to Stephenson will be:

    John Donovan, CEO of AT&T Communications;
    John Stankey, CEO of AT&T’s media business;
    Lori Lee, CEO of AT&T International and Global Marketing Officer of AT&T Inc.; and,
    Brian Lesser, CEO of AT&T’s ad and analytics business.

All of Jeff Bewkes’ direct reports will now report to John Stankey.

Acquisition Financial Details

Under the terms of the merger, Time Warner Inc. shareholders received 1.4 shares of AT&T common stock, in addition to $53.75 in cash, per share of Time Warner Inc. Image Comics Announces New Creative Team for "Kick-Ass" Comic Book

KICK-ASS INTRODUCES NEW CREATIVE TEAM AND LAUNCHES NEW STORY ARC

PORTLAND, OR — Image Comics is pleased to announce that KICK-ASS #7 will launch an exciting new story arc for the series and introduce an all-new creative team to the KICK-ASS brand—Steve Niles and Marcelo Frusin—who will succeed original series creators Mark Millar and John Romita Jr.

“When we sold Millarworld to Netflix, the one and only downside was not being able to write more Kick-Ass with my new executive role, and so I did the next best thing—I got my favourite writer to continue Patience Lee’s adventures,” said Millar. “Steve Niles is without question my favourite writer in comics, and I rank 30 Days of Night as my favourite graphic novel of the last 20 years. I’m honoured he’s taken the time to do this and slightly in awe that, like Jeff Lemire on Hit-Girl, he’s already outclassed me on this book. I finally get to enjoy Kick-Ass as a reader!”

Romita Jr. added: “I’m lucky enough to work with Mark again, but even luckier to have worked on Kick-Ass again, as well. Every time someone worries that the same old, same old is in line for another go ’round with a title, Mark Millar completely crosses people up with something completely different.  My attempt on every new panel, page, and story is to do something different. I think Peter Steigerwald and I have managed to do that, and Peter's brilliant color art is so vital to that difference. Overall, the three of us have provided something unexpected, and in all humility, excellent! I’m proud to have worked with Mark, Peter, John Workman and editor Rachael Fulton on this Kick-Ass title and so thrilled to hand the reins over to Steve Niles and Marcelo Frusin. I’m confident these two great talents will grab a hold and run with Kick-Ass seamlessly.  I can only speak for myself, but I will severely miss this lady in the Kick-Ass costume. Pretty sure Mark and Peter agree.”

In KICK-ASS #7—Kick-Ass has wiped out Hoops Lucero and seized control of his criminal operations, but Violencia’s set to bust out of jail and get his bloody revenge on our favorite superhero.

"I am really happy to continue the superb work of Mark and John on Kick-Ass," said Frusin. "The new character is gorgeous and I enjoy working on the book every day. I like drawing the world of Kick-Ass and its villains—Steve's scripts are wonderful and the color work Sunny is doing is amazing. It's great to have a team like this. I love doing Kick-Ass!"

Niles added: "I am absolutely having the time of my life working on Kick-Ass. It’s a thrill to be continuing the work set out by Mark and John and wonderful to be working with Marcelo and Sunny."

KICK-ASS #7 hits stores on Wednesday, September 19th, 2018.
