From BleacherReport:  Former Major League Baseball player, Bill Buckner, has died at the age of 69, Monday, May 27, 2019.  Buckner has a 22 year career and was known for being a first baseman, although he did play some as an outfielder.  He was known for his part in an infamous incident during Game 6 of the 1986 World Series.

From Deadline:  Pro Football Hall of Fame (Class of 1977) NFL quarterback, Bart Starr, has died at the age of 85, Sunday, May 26, 2019.  Starr was the starting quarterback for the Green Bay Packers from 1956 to 1971.  He led the Packers to five NFL championships, including wins in the first two Super Bowls (I in 1967 and II in 1968).  Starr remains the only starting quarterback to win three consecutive NFL championships (1965 through 1967 seasons).

From Variety:  Legendary Hollywood screenwriter and author, William Goldman, has died at the age of 87, Friday, November 16, 2018.  Goldman won an Oscar for his original screenplay for "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid" and another Oscar for his adapted screenplay for the film, "All the President's Men." A novelist, Goldman also adapted three of his novels, including the beloved "The Princess Bride," for the screen.  He was a chronicler of the film business, as seen in his book, "Adventures in the Screen Trade," and was also a noted "script doctor," doing uncredited rewrites and touch-ups on movies such as "The Right Stuff" and "Indecent Proposal."

From NPR:  Country music legend, Roy Clark, has died at the age of 85, Thursday, November 15, 2018.  An guitarist and singer, Clark may be best known the co-host of the long-running country music variety series, "Hee Haw."  Clark was also a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame and of Grand Ole Opry.

From Variety:  Actress and model, Kim Porter, died at the age of 47, Thursday, November 15, 2018.  Porter dated mogul, Sean "Diddy" Combs, and was the mother of three of his children.  She appeared on the cover of magazines such as "Essence" and "Runway."  She appeared in the film, "The Brothers," and on the TV series, "Law & Order."

MARVEL COMICS' STAN LEE:

From TheWrap:  Legendary comic book writer, editor, and creator, Stan Lee, has died at the age of 95, Monday, November 12, 2018.  Lee took Marvel Comics from a second-tier publisher to a global empire by co-creating comic book characters such as the Fantastic Four, Spider-Man, X-Men, and the Hulk, to name just a fraction of many.  Lee also made a numerous cameo appearances in films based on the characters he helped to create.

An Animator’s Gallery: Eric Goldberg
D23 hosts the first public exhibition anywhere of “An Animator’s Gallery: Eric Goldberg.” Celebrate Goldberg, whose artistry at Walt Disney Animation Studios began with his groundbreaking work on Genie in Aladdin, and continues to this day on projects such as the upcoming Moana and the 2014 Oscar®-nominated Mickey Mouse short Get A Horse! The exhibition features a collection of more than 100 of Goldberg’s caricatured creations of Disney characters, drawn in a style reminiscent of art seen on the famed walls of Sardi’s Restaurant and The Brown Derby. This incredible collection of art is from the newly released book An Animator’s Gallery: Eric Goldberg Draws the Disney Characters, and will be available for purchase in the Walt Disney Publishing pop-up shop on the EXPO show floor.

Frozen Album Signing
With the purchase of Frozen: The Songs or Frozen Picture Disc at the Disney Music Emporium, guests will be issued a wristband to secure a space for an album signing with Kristen Anderson-Lopez, Robert Lopez and Tom MacDougall (Co-Producer, Frozen Soundtrack) on Saturday, August 15, at 10:30 a.m.

2015 Annie Awards Nominations Announced - Complete List

ASIFA-Hollywood, the Los Angeles, California branch of the International Animated Film Society, presents the Annie Awards.  The Annie honors achievements in animation as a whole, including current animated productions, as well as career and lifetime achievements.  These awards were created in 1972 by veteran voice talent June Foray.

On Monday, December 1, 2014, ASIFA-Hollywood announced nominations for the 42nd Annual Annie Awards, recognizing the year 2014's best in the field of animation.  The Annie Awards cover 36 categories and include Best Animated Feature, Best Animated Special Production, Commercials, Short Subjects, and Outstanding Individual Achievements.  The winners will be announced at a black tie ceremony on Saturday, January 31, 2015 at UCLA’s Royce Hall.  A pre-reception and press line begins at 5:00 pm with the awards ceremony following at 7:00 pm.  A post-show celebration begins immediately following the ceremony, and all events will be held at Royce Hall.

The “Juried Awards” honoring career achievement and exceptional contributions to animation, will also be presented.  Three “Winsor McCay” recipients have been selected by the ASIFA-Hollywood Board of Directors, and they are Didier Brunner, Don Lusk and Lee Mendelson for their career contributions to the art of animation.  The “June Foray Award” goes to Charles Solomon for his significant and benevolent or charitable impact on the art and industry of animation.  The “Ub Iwerks Award” goes to DreamWorks Animation’s Apollo Software for technical advancement that has made a significant impact on the art or industry of animation.  The “Special Achievement Award” will be given to The Walt Disney Family Museum recognizing the unique and significant impact on the art and industry of animation.
