San Francisco, CA – VIZ Media, LLC (VIZ Media), a premier company in the fields of publishing, animation distribution, and global entertainment licensing, announces a new series set in the world of the bestselling manga series MY HERO ACADEMIA with the release of MY HERO ACADEMIA: VIGILANTES on July 3rd, 2018.

The new comedy-action series MY HERO ACADEMIA: VIGILANTES has been highly anticipated by manga readers. The series is rated ‘T’ for Teens and will be published in print and digital editions under the Shonen Jump imprint. The print MSRP for Volume 1 will be $9.99 U.S. / $12.99 CAN. Digital editions will be available via viz.com and the VIZ Manga App, as well as from the Nook, Kobo, Kindle, iBooks, comiXology, and Google Play stores.

MY HERO ACADEMIA: VIGILANTES features story by Hideyuki Furuhashi and artwork by Betten Court and is based on original concepts by MY HERO ACADEMIA series creator Kohei Horikoshi. Future volumes of the series will be published every four months.

MY HERO ACADEMIA: VIGILANTES is set in a superpowered society, where there is nothing ordinary about evil anymore. Heroes, trained and licensed to protect and defend the public against supervillains, stand above all the rest. MY HERO ACADEMIA is his third series to appear in Japan in Weekly Shonen Jump and it was also adapted into a popular anime series that currently airs across North America on Adult Swim.

From Variety:  Famed science fiction, speculative fiction, and television writer, Harlan Ellison, has died at the age of 84, Thursday, June 28, 2018.  Ellison wrote the most famous episode of the original "Star Trek," "City at the Edge of Forever."  Ellison also wrote for "The Outer Limits," two episodes of which would later lead Ellison to sue the producers of James Cameron's "The Terminator."

BURBANK, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Warner Bros. Pictures and Village Roadshow Pictures’ “Ocean’s 8” crossed $100 million at the domestic box office this past weekend. The film now stands as the 10th-highest-grossing film of the year domestically, it was announced today by Jeff Goldstein, President of Domestic Distribution, Warner Bros. Pictures.

The latest installment of the successful “Ocean’s” franchise, “Ocean’s 8” stars Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Mindy Kaling, Sarah Paulson, Awkwafina, Rihanna, and Helena Bonham Carter.

Five years, eight months, 12 days...and counting. That’s how long Debbie Ocean (Sandra Bullock)—just released from prison—has been concocting the greatest heist of her storied career. She knows what it’s going to take—a team of the best in their field, starting with her former partner-in-crime Lou (Cate Blanchett). Together, they recruit a crew of specialists: jeweler Amita (Kaling); street con Constance (Awkwafina); expert fence Tammy (Paulson); hacker Nine Ball (Rihanna); and fashion designer Rose Weil (Bonham Carter). The target is $150 million in diamonds—diamonds that will adorn the neck of world-famous actress Daphne Kluger (Hathaway), who will be center stage at the event of the year, The Met Gala. Gary Ross (“Seabiscuit,” “The Hunger Games,” “Pleasantville”) directed “Ocean’s 8” from a screenplay he co-wrote with Olivia Milch, original story by Ross. Steven Soderbergh and Susan Ekins produced the film. Michael Tadross, Diana Alvarez, Jesse Ehrman and Bruce Berman served as executive producers, with Milch co-producing.

Ross’s behind-the-scenes team included director of photography Eigil Bryld, production designer Alex DiGerlando, Oscar-nominated editor Juliette Welfling (“The Diving Bell and the Butterfly”), costume designer Sarah Edwards, and composer Daniel Pemberton. “Ocean’s 8” is based on characters created by George Clayton Johnson & Jack Golden Russell.

Warner Bros. Pictures presents, in association with Village Roadshow Pictures, a Rahway Road production, “Ocean’s 8.” The film is being distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company, and in select territories by Village Roadshow Pictures. This film has been rated PG-13.

PORTLAND, OR — Even before hitting shelves this August, the forthcoming CROWDED by Eisner-nominated writer Christopher Sebela (Heartthrob, We(l)come Back, Harley Quinn), Ro Stein and Ted Brandt (Captain Marvel, Raven: The Pirate Princess), Triona Farrell (Runaways, Mech Cadet Yu), and Cardinal Rae (BINGO LOVE, Rose) is stirring up buzz with The Hollywood Reporter dropping the news yesterday that Rebel Wilson has optioned the film rights to the series with the goal of starring in and producing the movie adaptation. Wilson will develop the project and produce it via her Camp Sugar production banner. Also producing is Oni Entertainment.

First announced at the prestigious Image Expo in February, CROWDED explores the seedy implications of today’s technology with the gut-wrenching resonance of a Black Mirror episode. In CROWDED, the world runs on an economy of job shares and apps, including Reapr: a crowdfunding platform to fund assassinations. Charlie Ellison leads a quiet, normal life until she’s suddenly targeted by a million-dollar Reapr campaign. Hunted by all of Los Angeles, Charlie hires Vita, the lowest-rated bodyguard on the Dfend app. As the campaign picks up speed, they’ll have to figure out who wants Charlie dead before the campaign’s 30 days—or their lives—are over.

Image Comics Announces "Bingo Love: Jackpot Edition" For Nov. 2018

PORTLAND, OR — Tee Franklin made waves this weekend at the American Library Association’s (ALA) Annual Conference when The Hollywood Reporter dropped the news of forthcoming BINGO LOVE, VOL. 1: JACKPOT EDITION in trade paperback and hardcover. The expanded editions will hit stores this November 2018 from Image Comics.

“The two bonus stories that were in the original Bingo Love—Bingo Love: Secrets by Shawn Pryor and Paulina Ganucheau and Bingo Love: Honeymoon by Marguerite Bennett and Beverly Johnson—were only supposed to be for the Kickstarter backers. I decided to create this Jackpot Edition so everyone would have access to the bonus stories that were noted inside of Bingo Love,” said Tee Franklin. “As an added benefit, readers will also be getting three more short stories about Hazel and Mari… including a peek inside of Bingo Love, Vol. 2: Dear Diary. I had no idea when I wrote this story, people would be so welcoming to a story about two Black Queer grandmas. So, thank you all!”

BINGO LOVE is an original graphic novel created and written by Tee Franklin, with art by Jenn St-Onge, and colors by Joy San and follows the love story of two Queer, Black women and the love between them that spans decades.

When Hazel Johnson and Mari McCray met at church bingo in 1963, it was love at first sight. Forced apart by their families and society, Hazel and Mari both married young men and had families. Decades later, now in their mid-'60s, Hazel and Mari reunite again at a church bingo hall. Realizing their love for each other is still alive, what these grandmothers do next takes absolute strength and courage.

Franklin is a Black, Queer, disabled woman, known in the comics industry as an activist and advocate for creators of color, LGBTQ, and disabled communities. She is credited for starting the popular hashtag: #BlackComicsMonth, which aims to make comic book fans more aware of talented Black comic creators and their inclusive comic book characters and superheroes that already exist in the industry.

Franklin’s original edition of the BINGO LOVE title won the 2017 Queer Press Grant and raised almost $60k via Kickstarter. It gained traction in mainstream media for its progressive, LGBTQ-positive narrative.

BINGO LOVE explores the complications of coming out at an older age and how that decision affects their families' lives.
